Business Development Director - Seattle, WA; paid relocation available


As we move into our next phase of scale, we’re seeking a strategic, execution-focused business development leader to identify and capitalize on opportunities that drive profitability, attractiveness, and the long-term health of the business. The Business Development Director will play a critical role in fueling company-wide growth through strategic partnerships, market expansion initiatives, and business model innovation. This is an individual contributor role at this time with end-to-end ownership—from surfacing high-impact ideas to executing with speed and precision.


The ideal candidate is deeply entrepreneurial, thrives in a cross-functional environment, and has a sharp eye for opportunities that move the needle with experience in proptech. You’ll be expected to lead from the front—bringing insights, building models, negotiating deals, and translating strategic vision into measurable outcomes.




What You'll Do

  • Lead and Scale Proptech Growth Partnerships: Own and expand the partnership marketing channel with a focus on high-impact proptech integrations and lead-generation alliances, collaborating closely with Marketing while uniquely steering long-term partner relationships beyond the scope of direct sales or customer support.
  • Drive Strategic Opportunity Development: Conduct in-depth industry, proptech, and ecosystem research to surface untapped growth opportunities—from new market segments to emerging platforms—and execute with urgency and creativity, operating outside traditional sales cycles. This role plays a distinctly upstream function, identifying value-creating entry points before traditional customer-facing teams engage.
  • Source, Structure, and Launch Strategic Partnerships: Lead the full lifecycle of business development for high-leverage proptech and adjacent industry partnerships—from prospecting to contract negotiation and operational launch—differentiating this role through strategic ownership of deals that expand platform value and market reach.
  • Model & Assess Growth Initiatives: Build detailed financial models for partnership and co-growth initiatives, applying advanced understanding of ROAS, CAC, LTV, and unit economics to evaluate long-term impact—going beyond front-line sales metrics to guide strategic investment decisions.
  • Monetize the Proptech Ecosystem: Collaborate with Product, Sales, and Customer Success to craft monetization strategies for integrated proptech solutions and external product partnerships. While Sales focuses on converting leads and Success on retention, this role drives partnership design and revenue architecture from the ground up.
  • Strengthen Strategic Vendor Relationships: Partner with Legal, Product, and Finance to evaluate, drive, and evolve key vendor and integration relationships—particularly in the proptech space—to ensure they enhance our product offering, improve margins, and align with our scalability goals.
  • Support Corporate Development & Strategic Planning: Partner with the executive team on high-stakes initiatives, such as build vs. buy vs. partner assessments, M&A evaluation, and business model innovation—uniquely contributing a market-sensing, external-partnership lens distinct from internal sales or service optimization.

Skills You Bring

  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and influential skills to help develop and maintain successful, thriving and sustainable external partnerships.
  • Proven success in driving growth through strategic business development or corporate development roles in tech, marketplaces, or adjacent sectors (such as proptech integrations, channel partnerships).
  • Experience in proptech is highly desired.
  • A hands-on, proactive approach to both ideating and executing—from whiteboard to launch, with measurable business results.
  • Exceptional ability to navigate cross-functional collaboration (Marketing, Product, Finance, Legal, and Exec).
  • Strong track record of structuring partnerships, including contract negotiation, financial modeling, and go-to-market planning.
  • Comfort working with and interpreting financial concepts, including ROAS, contribution margin, and payback periods.
  • Deep project ownership mentality—you take initiative, follow through, and communicate clearly throughout.
  • Strong business instincts and a large professional network to support opportunity sourcing and partner engagement.
