Groundwater is becoming scarce due to overuse and climate change. In the California Central Valley alone, groundwater depletion is estimated to cost roughly $1.3 billion in reduced crop yields, increased pumping costs, and subsidence damage. We’re setting out to change how groundwater is used by shifting the industry from an inherently reactive position – where changes only occur after water has been used – to a proactive one, allowing for nimble decision-making, cost savings, and water conservation.


About the role

We're seeking a Sales Lead with demonstrated analytical skills to accelerate Resource Monitor's growth across multiple sectors, including agriculture, energy, municipalities, HOAs, and golf. Reporting directly to the CEO, you'll be responsible for crafting, executing, and iterating our go-to-market sales strategy, building our sales processes from the ground up, and establishing Resource Monitor as the leader in smart water management.


The ideal candidate will combine sales leadership expertise with a genuine passion for sustainability and water conservation. You should be equally comfortable developing high-level strategy and taking an active approach to prospect, nurture, and close deals. This role offers the unique opportunity to shape the future of water management as an influential early leader in RM’s trajectory.


Startup DNA Required:

This is not your typical sales job. As an early employee at Resource Monitor, you'll join a fast-moving startup at a pivotal moment. We're looking for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves with urgency, and is energized by building something from scratch. You'll wear multiple hats, work directly with founders, and significantly influence the company trajectory. The role requires an entrepreneurial mindset - someone willing to trade the certainty of an established company for the potential of outsized equity returns and the chance to shape an industry. If you're looking for structured processes, established playbooks, or traditional corporate hierarchy, this isn't your role. What you'll do

  • Develop, execute, and iterate a comprehensive sales strategy targeting key industries
  • Create and maintain strategic relationships with distributors, well contractors, and other channel partners
  • Drive revenue growth through hardware sales and recurring SaaS subscriptions
  • Work closely with leadership to refine product offerings based on market feedback
  • Establish sales processes, metrics, and reporting systems
  • Represent Resource Monitor at industry events and customer meetings

Qualifications

  • Substantial B2B sales experience, bonus if you have experience in a leadership role
  • Experience with IoT/hardware sales and recurring revenue business models
  • Strong understanding of channel partner dynamics and indirect sales strategies
  • Background in industrial water management
  • Demonstrated success in complex, multi-stakeholder sales environments
  • Willingness to travel up to two (2) weeks per month (typical travel is ~3-5 days per month). Arrangements can be discussed for candidates with caregiving responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in water management, agriculture, energy, or utility sectors
  • Track record of building successful distributor/contractor relationships
  • Familiarity with industrial IoT platforms and SaaS business models
  • History of exceeding revenue targets in startup environments

The pay range for this role is:

135,000 - 260,000 USD per year (Remote - United States)
