Storm Clean-Up Heavy Equipment Operator - Excavator
We are seeking a skilled and safety-conscious Heavy Equipment Operator with experience in operating excavators for storm clean-up operations.

Work Location: West Jefferson, NC

Job Type: Full-Time

Work Hours: 7 days per week, weather permitting - may work extended shift hours and travel for extended periods of time.

Starting Pay: $30/hour                                                                                   

Key Responsibilities:

• Operate excavators and other heavy equipment to remove storm debris, fallen trees, and damaged infrastructure.
• Load and transport materials safely to designated disposal sites.
• Assist in grading, land clearing, and erosion control to restore affected areas.
• Conduct daily equipment inspections, maintenance checks, and minor repairs to ensure optimal performance.
• Follow all safety guidelines, environmental regulations, and company protocols.
• Coordinate with team members, emergency response crews, and supervisors to complete tasks efficiently.
• Work in challenging weather conditions and hazardous environments.
• Maintain accurate logs and reports of work performed and equipment usage.

Qualifications:

• Minimum of 1 year of experience operating excavators and other heavy machinery.
• Valid driver’s license and heavy equipment operator certification.
• Willing to work extended shift hours and travel for extended periods of time.
• Experience in storm clean-up, disaster recovery, or construction-related fields is preferred.
• Knowledge of safety procedures, hazard identification, and best practices for debris removal.
• Ability to work long hours, including weekends.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physically demanding tasks.

Preferred Qualifications:

• CDL (Commercial Driver’s License) is a plus.
• Certifications in OSHA safety standards or disaster recovery operations.
• Experience with additional heavy equipment such as bulldozers, loaders, and skid steers.
