Lead Quality Technician
Job Type: Full-Time, On-Site
Summary:
The Lead Quality Technician is responsible for duties of the Quality Technician position with additional oversight of selected laboratory operations tasks. The position requires responsive and timely attention to samples submitted to the lab and an ability to complete multiple tests simultaneously with accuracy. In addition to the duties associated with daily lab workflow, the Quality Technical Lead will travel between 3 production facilities to cover first, second, and third shifts when Quality Technicians are on PTO, sick leave, or other absence scenarios. The facilities are located in St. Joseph, MO (2) and Bolckow, MO (1).
Job Duties
- Fulfill the job duties of Quality Technician including daily testing of the lab samples.
- Order supplies and maintain inventory for 3 facilities to ensure supply levels are acceptable. Adhere to first in, first out (FIFO) inventory management.
- Provide lab coverage for three facilities when laboratory staff have scheduled and unscheduled absences.
- Participate in cross functional teams and meetings when requested by management. Provide project status, participate in laboratory root cause investigations, and communicate information on lab operations.
- Communicate with production on out of specification testing results and product containing physical hazards.
- Assist with training of new laboratory staff.
- Recommend standardization in processes across all lab sites.
- Complete a secondary review of lab data sheets to ensure completeness and accuracy of information.
- Assist with implementation of new testing methods and technologies including site preparation, review of Standard Operating Procedures, and training of team members.
- Calibrate equipment and address maintenance issues when equipment is down.
- Monitor laboratory control sample (LCS) charting and evaluate data for trends.
- Respond to production staff and management questions and concerns when requested.
- Oversight of retention sample system including labeling, storage, and proper discard.
- Responsible for locating, gathering, and shipping samples to other facility locations and to third parties as requested by sales, marketing, and customer service.
Minimum Experience, Education & Skills Requirements
- H.S. Diploma or GED and 3 years of laboratory training and/or experience
- Proficient with Office 365 (primarily Excel, SharePoint, Outlook, and Word)
- Reliable, Organized, Efficient, Attention to detail
- Clear verbal communicator
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple projects independently
- Able to work independently and as part of a team
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to sit, stand, kneel, walk, reach, squat, push, pull, and climb stairs for extended periods of time
- Must be able to work from elevated surfaces and/or in confined spaces for extended periods of time
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
