About the Role
We are searching for a Director of Research with knowledge and experience within the pulp, paper and paper converting market to assist in the development and maintenance of vital business data and information. The Director will be responsible for managing a team of Researchers across the globe as they work to acquire and maintain detailed information on pulp & paper and paper converting sites, improving our data quality, and ensuring accurate, reliable, and repeatable reporting and decision support for our customers.
What You'll Do
- Lead the forestry vertical research team, ensuring standard work practices are followed and providing coaching and support as needed.
- Review and update service standards and related processes, in collaboration with peers
- Participate in annual budgeting process
- Complete annual performance reviews for direct reports, including administrative functions as needed
- Lead efforts to increase efficiency and accuracy of data collection
- Provide research assistance in gathering mill information related to assigned sites for use in our forestry-focused database
- Perform ongoing maintenance of data to ensure the assigned sites are current, complete, and correct
- Validation of mill information as part of the auditing process
- Address data-related requests for clarification pertaining to assigned sites, responsible functional area, geographic location, or language skill that arise from both external and internal sources
- Actively participate in internal Team meetings and share ideas for continuous improvement
- Serve as a thought leader, offering industry insights and best practices.
Qualifications
- Experience: 8+ years in the pulp & paper market, or a related role within the forestry vertical with at least 3 years in a team leadership role
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in research, investigation, data collection and business intelligence tools; SQL background a plus
- Analytical Thinking: Ability to interpret complex data and translate it into actionable insights for clients.
- Communication: Excellent presentation, negotiation, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work from home, access to reliable internet and communications equipment
- Language: Fluency in English, other languages a plus
- Education: Advanced degree in Pulp/Paper or related field preferred.
