What we do
- Founded in 2015, ReUp Education is the only organization that focuses exclusively on helping colleges and universities engage and re-enroll the more than 40 million US residents who have “stopped out” and support them until graduation, through our patented technology-enabled service. To date, we have re-enrolled over 57,000 students for our university partners. As of July 2025, ReUp Education partners with 140 active schools and a total of 1.78 million learners. To date, ReUp Education has helped 7,960 learners graduate. Today we build regional marketplaces to connect the supply of educational opportunities with the demand for skilled and credentialed workforce professionals.
About the role
- ReUp Education is looking for a Lead Data Engineer to help us empower more adult learners and educational institutions by designing, building and maintaining scalable data pipelines and warehouses to support our products and services.
- This is both a technical delivery and leadership role, with roughly a 70% focus on hands-on engineering, and 30% focus on driving engineering excellence and mentoring other engineers (not people management). - Shape the long-term technical roadmap for ReUp’s data platform, and serve as a senior technical resource across projects.
- Provide technical mentorship to other engineers through skill development, design guidance, and code reviews.
- Develop and maintain scalable, high-performance data pipelines to ingest and process large volumes of student and institutional data.
- Design and optimize data models in data warehouses to power business intelligence products, ML models, cloud-based web applications, and marketing and coaching services.
- Implement validation, testing, and monitoring frameworks to ensure data quality.
- Proactively improve the performance, reliability, automation and cost efficiency of data workflows and platforms.
- Proactively monitor and troubleshoot production data systems to ensure reliability and uptime.
- Define and implement data engineering standards and best practices to improve data quality, governance, and performance.
- Create and maintain clear documentation for data pipelines, models, and processes.
