About the role:

As a Medical Assistant you are responsible for a comprehensive range of clinical and administrative tasks that ensure efficient clinical operations, strict compliance and safety protocols, and most importantly, compassionate care for every patient. This multifaceted role includes preparing examination rooms and patients for appointments,  assisting our physicians and physician assistant with exams, providing patient education, and meticulously maintaining medical records. You'll also be drawing labs,  coordinating results, preparing for surgical procedures, and contributing to the overall smooth functioning of our practice.

What you'll do:

Patient Appointments & Care: Managing patient flow and room assignments, taking vital signs, providing pre- and post-operative instructions, assisting with wound care, and performing basic procedures like drain and suture removal. You'll also be responsible for accurately entering patient information, medications, and allergies into their records, and preparing specimens for lab analysis.

Medical Scribing: Accurately documenting patient encounters, including detailed notes, medical histories, operative plans, and counseling sessions, ensuring all information is complete and compliant for insurance and medical record purposes.

·        Surgical and Procedure Preparation: Coordinating all aspects of surgical readiness, from preparing surgical bags with necessary supplies to managing medical records, faxes, and required clearances (e.g., PAT orders, FMLA forms, mental healthcare letters). You'll proactively track patient preparation and ensure all lab and pathology results, along with operative reports, are received and uploaded.

Patient Information Management: Handling patient inquiries via email, phone, and text in a HIPAA-compliant manner, documenting all correspondence, and immediately escalating urgent patient concerns to a provider. You'll also scan documents into patient records and manage electronic medical record "TO DO" lists to ensure timely and compassionate care.

Support Duties: Contributing to the overall efficiency and comfort of the practice by stocking refreshments, organizing supplies and demo implants, washing patient robes, and preparing Stericycle boxes for pickup.

Qualifications:

  • Education: High School Diploma required. Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or Associate's degree preferred.
