About the role

Riot is seeking an EHS Specialist to join our growing EHS Department at our Houston based subsidiary, E4A Solutions. This position is responsible for delivering OSHA-compliant training to Electrical Field Services, Operations, and project teams; conducting Toolbox Talks; reviewing Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs); and supporting safety initiatives across the organization.


Essential Functions

  • Conduct safety walks and inspections for all projects, including electrical work, to analyze risks.
  • Monitor daily construction and electrical activities for compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, and company policies.
  • Educate personnel, including electrical field service employees, on safety standards, lockout/tagout, confined space entry and safe equipment operation.
  • Implement safe work practices and conduct regular safety training to improve awareness.
  • Provide recommendations for improving workplace safety, with an emphasis on electrical hazards.
  • Assist with incident investigations, especially electrical-related events, to identify root causes.
  • Identify and correct safety deficiencies in the field, including unsafe high and medium voltage electrical practices.
  • Conduct regular safety meetings, focused on OSHA and NFPA 70E standards
  • Conduct regular safety inspections to identify hazards and implement controls; assess training needs.
  • Facilitate emergency evacuation drills.
  • Exercise the right to stop work if safety guidelines are not followed, particularly in electrical field operations.
  • Maintain safety and training documentation for employees, including electrical safety qualifications.
  • Assist various departments, including Operations and Field Service with safety projects and improvements.
  • Perform other duties as required or assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Working knowledge of electrical safety for 12 VDC to 125 VDC and 120 VAC to 500kVAC, and safety knowledge for 480V up to 345kV.
  • Familiarity with electrical power system principles and commissioning best practices.
  • Supervisory and communication skills in technical field environments.
  • Knowledge of relevant industry standards: NEC, NESC, OSHA, NFPA, and NERC testing requirements.
  • Understanding of low, medium, and high-voltage power systems (up to 500 kV).
  • Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and standards ( e.g. NFPA 70E, IEEE standards).
  • Formal safety training (OSHA 510, 511, OSHA 30, HAZWOPER 40) is a plus; NFPA 70E training highly desirable.
  • Spanish a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices (lockout/tagout, arc flash, energized work).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for interacting with all levels in construction and electrical environments.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Willingness to work weekends, overtime, and extended shifts when needed.
  • Strong knowledge of confined space entry.

Education and Experience 

  • High School Diploma.
  • 3–5 years’ experience as a Safety Specialist or Coordinator; electrical safety oversight experience preferred.
