Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.85B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

About the role

As a Product Design Lead for Data, you’ll define how information flows across Rippling’s platform—how it’s ingested, modeled, transformed, and visualized in ways that help businesses operate intelligently. Your work will shape how millions of users explore and act on their data inside Rippling.

You’ll design the connective tissue that powers insights across every product—from sales commissions to headcount analytics, retention dashboards, and spend modeling. This means creating systems that make complex data approachable, trustworthy, and actionable.

You’ll work across ingestion, transformation, modeling, and visualization to craft a unified experience that makes sophisticated data capabilities feel intuitive. This isn’t about building another reporting tool; it’s about reimagining how data connects across the Rippling ecosystem to unlock smarter, faster decision-making for every user.

This role is ideal for a designer who thrives on complexity, moves confidently across abstraction levels, and blends systems thinking with impeccable execution. You’ll collaborate deeply with Product, Engineering, and Data teams, helping shape product strategy through design craft and insight.

If you’ve designed data-rich or platform-scale products—and you’re excited by the challenge of making data approachable for everyone—we’d love to talk.

What you will do

  • Design end-to-end data experiences across ingestion, transformation, modeling, and visualization—making complex workflows simple, coherent, and fast.
  • Build systems that scale across Rippling’s suite, ensuring consistency in how data is presented and acted on.
  • Create frameworks for how customers explore, combine, and visualize information, empowering teams to turn data into insight effortlessly.
  • Partner closely with engineers, PMs, and data architects to define product direction, scope trade-offs, and prototype new capabilities.
  • Deliver high-fidelity designs and prototypes that clarify product concepts, align stakeholders, and push the craft quality of our data interfaces.
  • Contribute to Rippling’s design system with new data-focused components and patterns that serve both customers and internal teams.
  • Continuously refine your work through user feedback, experimentation, and analytics to ensure designs deliver measurable impact.

What you will need

  • 8+ years of end-to-end product design experience, with a portfolio showcasing complex, data-intensive or platform-scale products.
  • Deep systems-thinking skills—ability to abstract complexity and create frameworks that scale across products and use cases.
  • Fluency in data visualization and information design, with sensitivity to accuracy, hierarchy, and storytelling.
  • Experience collaborating closely with engineers and data teams, translating technical constraints into elegant product experiences.
  • Exceptional interaction and visual design craft, supported by the ability to produce precise specs and components that integrate into a design system.
  • Clear communication and storytelling skills that help partners understand design rationale and align around shared product goals.
  • Bias toward action and iteration—comfortable shipping, learning, and refining quickly in a fast-moving environment.

If you don't necessarily meet all of these requirements, we still encourage you to apply. Skills transfer in unexpected ways, and diverse perspectives often lead to the most innovative solutions.
