About the Role

We're hiring a Director of Technical Program Management to establish and grow our TPM function at Rippling. This team will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of infra programs, product launches and customer facing programs that span many teams within engineering and across the company.  In addition, this team is responsible for creating the processes  and operating rhythms that will allow Rippling to maintain its exceptional pace of delivery across the Engineering organization.

In addition to recruiting a world-class team, we are looking for someone to establish the methods TPMs use to drive, own, and ship all aspects of large, multi-functional efforts and feature areas. You will partner with engineering teams, proactively identify, prioritize, and drive resolution to key program issues. You will present and communicate new feature initiatives, top issues, risks, and critical achievements to executive leadership. You will be responsible for execution of the roadmap, priorities, prioritization, and timelines for our most critical projects. You will build a culture of continuous improvement within the team, driving ongoing improvements to the program management processes. Collaborate with Product, Engineering, Sales, Marketing, CX and Risk teams.

What You'll Do

  • Lead strategic cross-functional planning, prioritization, and execution by working with product managers, engineering leads, and stakeholders to create program plans, including roadmaps, dependency identification, and resourcing plans.

  • Partner with engineering and product leadership to facilitate key program-level meetings, initiatives, and operational projects to drive successful outcomes.

  • Prioritize and moderate program delivery in a way that empowers the R&D organization and ensures the ultimate goal of exceeding customer expectations is met.

  • Translate business requirements into engineering tasks by working closely with product leads.

  • Act as a central point of contact for stakeholders beyond R&D for programs that have critical product deliverables.

  • Contribute to the definition, development, and tracking of effective metrics and R&D improvements that drive better operating performance for the Product Team.

  • Establish, document, and drive the adoption of program frameworks, tools, and best practices.

  • Escalate urgent issues appropriately and drive them to closure in a timely manner.

  • Be an agent of change as the Technical Program Management function is established and strengthened throughout the company.

What You’ll Need

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience in a technical Program Management, development, or operations role with at least 3 years managing technical operations or supporting an enterprise-level platform.

  • Demonstrated excellence in technical program management, particularly in creating TPM processes from scratch and making an organization successful in leveraging TPMs.

  • Experience in standing up and running a cross-functional Project Management team and delivering technical projects under intense time pressure.

  • Exceptional problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.

  • The proven ability to effectively handle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.

  • Outstanding ability to communicate effectively across all levels of the organization, from engineers to executives.

  • Highly skilled in identifying, tracking, and reporting on cross-team dependencies and addressing them effectively with providing/receiving Business Units.

  • A four-year degree in Computer Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent work experience.

  • Experience as a successful agilist and change agent for 2 or more years, preferably in a B2B SaaS environment.

  • Previous experience with large-scale projects that have an international or financial component is a plus.
