About the Role


We’re looking for Senior Frontend Engineer to join the web platform team responsible for handling the design systems, frontend devx, and web performance. You will be primarily responsible for building and scaling multiple areas of front-end development, working as part of the Rippling Platform team. This is a high ownership, high impact, and high visibility role -with an opportunity to take ownership of projects from concept through delivery, offering significant autonomy and impact.


What You Will Do

  • Evolve and maintain the design system based on priority business needs and evolving customer use cases
  • Craft and build internal frontend tooling and libraries to optimize developer efficiency and increase code reliability and performance.
  • Be self-directed and take a lead role on requirements, implementation, and delivery, as well as consulting with adopting teams.
  • Engage with the latest technology and industry UI trends to continually evolve and improve the application experience.
  • You'll mentor other engineers and participate in reviewing code.


What You Will Need

  • 6+ years of experience building high performance web applications & systems.
  • Entrepreneurial mindset:  you thrive in unstructured environments and enjoy identifying and solving big problems.
  • Strong understanding of JS fundamentals & modern frontend stack.
  • Very fluent with JavaScript/TypeScript, React, HTML, and CSS, and unit & integration testing frameworks.
  • Owned the improvement of various frontend performance metrics at scale.
  • Passion for building tools, automation & AI to deliver impeccable devx.
  • Solid experience in architecting web applications that sit on top of complex business logic.
  • Bonus points for any of the following:
    • Built or contributed to Design Systems, Component or Util Libraries.
    • Worked on micro-frontend architecture, distributed frontend systems.
    • Owning platform elements for other engineering teams.
    • Taking ambitious & ambiguous problems to production.
    • Open source contributions, Tech Talks, Blogs or any work with developer evangelising.
    • Experience in observability, profiling, and optimizing large scale web applications.
