About the role


Rippling's Risk team is looking for a Credit Underwriter to conduct customer-level credit risk assessments and support risk mitigation initiatives across numerous Rippling products, including but not limited to the Spend Management corporate card portfolio. The Associate will play a crucial role in supporting and carrying out risk control functions according to internal policies as Rippling continues to expand its offerings to new customer segments.


In this role, you will be responsible for crafting and executing strategies that balance credit exposure with continued rapid growth and operational efficiency. You will work closely with cross-functional teams, such as product, engineering, and finance, to create scalable and effective risk management solutions in our fast-paced, high-growth environment.


What you will do

  • Learn, understand, and implement Rippling’s risk policies and procedures across all relevant products.
  • Perform customer-level credit reviews using both external and proprietary data sources.
  • Oversee customer escalations and respond to questions/requests from the Sales + Support functions.
  • Investigate and take action on high-risk customer credit situations, as needed.
  • Formulate and present credit recommendations to senior team members and the credit committee.
  • Monitor portfolio-level performance against internal targets and required thresholds.
  • Work effectively with cross-functional partners to resolve credit issues.
  • Help drive projects related to improving the efficiency and scalability of risk control practices

What you will need

  • Strong financial analytics background: degree in Finance, Economics, or related field, progress towards CFA charter, or relevant on-the-job experience.
  • Minimum 3 years of credit risk experience, ideally related to SMB/MM commercial lending; working knowledge of financial and bank statements.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Sales and/or Support teams.
  • Highly organized with the ability to deliver on multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Ability to operate independently in a fast-paced environment and meet aggressive deadlines.
  • SQL acumen is highly valued but not required.

A variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation–including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed below.

The pay range for this role is:

82,800 - 130,500 USD per year (US Tier 2)

78,200 - 123,250 USD per year (US Tier 3)
