Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.
Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.
Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.
We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.
At Rippling, design is core to our mission: freeing smart people to tackle hard problems. Compensation is the strongest lever a company has to drive performance, and variable pay is one of the hardest things to get right.
Every company approaches it differently. Some lean on sales commissions, others on merit cycles or performance bonuses. All of them juggle complex rules, constant changes, and messy data scattered across systems. The result: spreadsheets everywhere, rigid tools nobody likes, and errors that erode trust.
The stakes are huge. For finance, RevOps, HR, and managers, variable pay is one of the largest and most sensitive expenses on the P&L. For employees, it’s their paycheck and a direct measure of their performance. The minimum standard of getting it right is “flawlessly.”
Rippling is building one of the world’s first unified pay calculation systems, flexible enough for incentive plans, merit cycles, commissions, and the long tail of industry-specific use cases. One calculation engine, powering compensation for everyone from salespeople closing deals, to nurses earning shift differentials, to gig workers and frontline staff whose pay changes week to week. All built seamlessly into every system where work and pay intersect.
As Product Design Lead for Variable Compensation, you will define the design vision for one of Rippling’s most strategic bets. You’ll tackle challenges like importing and reconciling massive, third-party data sets, making complex calculations effortless, and giving employees clarity into how their pay connects to their performance. You’ll own a problem space that has rarely seen thoughtful product design, and make it simple enough to feel obvious.
We're looking for fresh perspectives from a seasoned designer who's tackled complex fintech or B2B products. Someone who sees complexity as a canvas, not a constraint. Someone who thrives in high-velocity environments and gets energized by solving problems that have never been solved before.
If you're ready to design the future of how the world gets paid, let's talk.
If you don't necessarily meet all of these requirements, we still encourage you to apply. Skills transfer in unexpected ways, and diverse perspectives often lead to the most innovative solutions.
