About the Role


We are seeking our first fully dedicated indirect tax hire who will be responsible for overseeing the global indirect tax function. The global indirect tax specialist will be responsible for managing the day to day indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions. In addition, the candidate will also be responsible for managing indirect consulting projects as they arise across various different jurisdictions globally and a key contributor to driving process improvement across the indirect tax function. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of indirect taxes (GST/VAT) and also, a general understanding across broader tax heads. This role will involve close collaboration with colleagues within Tax (in Europe and the US) and various other corporate functions in addition to the management of external advisors in various jurisdictions to ensure full compliance with local and international tax regulations.


The successful candidate will also play a pivotal role in building out and maintaining the various processes and controls required to ensure Rippling is meeting its compliance and operational obligations as it continues to grow internationally. What you will do


The role will focus on the following key activities:

  • Own and manage global indirect tax compliance across multiple jurisdictions, ensuring accurate and timely filing of VAT/GST/Sales & Use Tax returns, SAF-T, Intrastat, ESL, and other local reporting obligations.
  • Act as the central technical resource on indirect tax matters, providing practical advice to business stakeholders on cross-border transactions, contractual arrangements, product launches etc..
  • Drive process improvement across the end-to-end tax compliance lifecycle, including data extraction, ERP configurations, tax engine optimization, reconciliation controls, and documentation standards.
  • Partner with business stakeholders to embed scalable, automated, and audit-ready indirect tax processes within business workflows.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors and local compliance providers, ensuring consistent global standards and cost control.
  • Oversee indirect tax audits and inquiries, coordinating responses, managing data requests, and minimizing financial and reputational risk.
  • Support transfer pricing and customs interface matters where indirect tax considerations overlap with intercompany flows and import/export structures.
  • Monitor global legislative developments and assess operational and systems impacts.


Experience Required:

  • Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) qualified or equivalent. Professional accounting qualification is a plus.
  • 6+ years of relevant experience at a public accounting firm and or/ in house tax department of a global multinational company. 
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems and tax engines.
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication skills. Ability to communicate complex tax concepts to non-tax professionals and to execute complex, multi-stakeholder initiatives.
  • Ability to collaborate, ensure accountability, and drive results in a fast-paced, constantly changing environment with a high level of integrity.
