Software Engineer II - IAM

About Rippling

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.85B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that all official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.

About The Team

The Integrations & Access Management team at Rippling is at the forefront of our mission to build a world-class, centralized Identity and Access Management (IAM) platform that serves as a primary differentiator for Rippling’s standalone IT offering.

Our team doesn't just manage connections; we orchestrate the entire lifecycle of an employee’s digital identity. We are aggressively enhancing our product to include:

  • The Industry's Best SSO: Building a seamless, secure, and lightning-fast Single Sign-On experience that serves as the front door to every employee's workday.
  • Centralized Access Control: A unified "control center" for managing user and group access across the enterprise.
  • Automated Workflows: Eliminating manual, error-prone ticketing with seamless, AI-driven access request and approval systems.
  • Enterprise Scalability: Engineering solutions that support the complex provisioning needs of companies with over 25,000 employees.

We are one of the few elite product areas at Rippling leading the AI charge—leveraging tools like Cursor and Claude to bypass "grunt work" and focusing our energy on deep architectural challenges and high-velocity shipping.

What You’ll Do

  • Architect the Future of SSO: Own the development and scaling of our Single Sign-On product, ensuring it is the most reliable and user-friendly solution on the market.
  • Own the Product Experience: Take full-stack ownership (roughly 70% backend focus) of core capabilities, from initial design to shipping frontend features.
  • Drive the IAM Roadmap: Help build and scale a new centralized access management product that competes directly with industry leaders.
  • Uplevel Engineering with AI: Actively use AI developer tools to boost productivity, enhance platform stability, and deliver intelligent product solutions.
  • Scale for Global Enterprises: Identify patterns across hundreds of 3rd-party integrations to ensure the platform remains performant as our customers grow to tens of thousands of employees.

Qualifications

  • 2+ years of experience in a high-growth production environment (Startup or Mid-stage experience is highly preferred).
  • Technical Stack: Our world is built on Python, Django, React, MongoDB, and AWS. While deep expertise here is a plus, we value generalist excellence and a "builder" mindset above all.
  • Full-Stack Mindset: You are a backend-leaning engineer who isn't afraid to jump into the frontend to ensure a seamless user experience.
  • AI-Forward: You have already integrated AI tools (like Cursor/Claude) into your personal or professional workflow to move faster.
  • High Ownership: You take immense pride in "owning the outcome," not just the code, and you thrive in environments where you can independently drive large-scale projects.
