About the role

This is a high-activity, outbound Sales Development role. You’ll be responsible for creating a sales pipeline by researching target accounts, reaching prospects through phone, email, LinkedIn, and other channels, and booking qualified meetings for Account Executives.

It is a focused top-of-funnel role for someone who is energized by prospecting, fast feedback loops, daily activity goals, and a team environment where performance is visible and celebrated. This is not an inbound or full-cycle sales role.

You’ll learn Rippling’s full platform, understand the operational pain points our customers face, and build the foundation for a long-term career in sales. Successful SDRs typically spend time in-seat developing core prospecting, discovery, objection-handling, and territory-management skills before furthering their sales career.

(This is a hybrid role and you will be required to be in the office 3x per week in San Francisco, CA)

What you'll do

  • Research target companies, personas, business triggers, and operational pain points to identify high-quality prospecting opportunities
  • Prospect into target accounts using phone, email, LinkedIn, and sales engagement tools
  • Own a high-volume outbound motion, including daily call blocks, email follow-ups, account research, and multi-touch sequences
  • Work toward clear daily and weekly activity expectations, including roughly 80–100 calls and 40–50 emails per day, depending on territory priorities and team guidance
  • Qualify prospects using defined criteria and schedule high-quality meetings for Account Executives
  • Partner closely with Account Executives on territory strategy, account prioritization, messaging, and follow-ups
  • Participate actively in weekly enablement sessions, team call reviews, and manager coaching; apply feedback quickly to improve your messaging, objection handling, and overall prospecting effectiveness
  • Maintain accurate records in Salesforce and keep outreach, account, and prospect data clean
  • Leverage tools like Salesforce, Outreach, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, Apollo, and dialer technology to execute efficiently

Qualifications

  • BA/BS degree or equivalent work experience
  • A high sense of urgency and genuine interest in a sales career
  • Strong communication skills, especially over the phone and in concise, written outreach
  • Coachability - you can take feedback, apply it quickly, and improve from one call to the next
  • Curiosity and initiative - you ask good questions, seek context, and look for ways to get better without waiting to be told
  • Resilience and consistency in a high-activity prospecting environment
  • Comfort working toward measurable goals in a competitive, team-oriented setting
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with sales, marketing, and other teams
  • Prior sales, customer-facing, athletics, or competitive team experience is helpful, but not required

What success looks like

In your first 30 days, you’ll focus on onboarding, product knowledge, sales methodology, tools, messaging, and understanding Rippling’s customers.

By month two, you’ll begin ramping into live prospecting, building activity consistency, and working toward partial quota expectations.

By month three, you should be operating at full ramp expectations, managing daily outbound activity, booking qualified meetings, and showing consistent improvement through coaching and repetition.

Longer term, success in this role means building the skills and track record to grow your sales career at Rippling - whether that path is toward Account Executive, SDR leadership, or another go-to-market role.

Why join Rippling

  • You’ll sell a product that solves real operational problems for companies - not a narrow point solution
  • You’ll learn how businesses run across HR, IT, Finance, payroll, benefits, devices, apps, and more
  • You’ll join a fast-paced, high-performance sales environment with strong coaching, clear goals, and room to grow
  • You’ll be part of a collaborative SDR team that values healthy competition, accountability, and continuous improvement
  • You’ll get exposure to a rapidly expanding platform, including newer product areas such as AI and data
