About The Role

The Identity team's mission is to provide a single source of truth for authentication and security policy management for all users and applications, enabling customers to confidently scale their organization on Rippling.

We're looking for passionate backend engineers to join us in building and scaling the core platform of Identity at Rippling. This high-ownership, high-impact, and high-visibility role is crucial for Rippling's growth and success, focusing on the foundational platform that powers identity across all our products. While your primary focus will be the core backend platform, this role also involves full-stack development to build reusable products and tools on top of this infrastructure, enabling internal teams and external partners to effectively utilize our identity capabilities. You'll take on diverse responsibilities, from writing and reviewing code to becoming an expert in core identity protocols and infrastructure, and play a key role in shaping the team's culture as we tackle complex engineering challenges.

What you'll do

• Design, develop, and maintain the core backend services and APIs for Rippling's identity platform, ensuring high availability, scalability, and security.
• Collaborate closely with engineers across Rippling to understand platform requirements and evolve our core identity systems to support new product initiatives and scale challenges.
• Own critical components of the identity platform, taking responsibility for their architecture, implementation, performance optimization, and operational health.
• Implement robust testing, monitoring, and observability for the platform's backend systems to guarantee reliability and performance.
• Actively participate in code reviews, technical design discussions, and mentorship opportunities to foster engineering excellence and team growth.

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of professional software engineering experience focused on backend development in a production environment.
• Experience working in a fast-paced environment and managing complex technical projects.
• Passion for building, operating, and debugging critical, large-scale backend infrastructure focused on reliability, scalability, and security.
• Prior experience contributing to full-stack product development and interacting with customers is a plus, providing valuable perspective on how platform capabilities are consumed.
• Prior experience with our backend stack (Python, Django, Go, MongoDB, and AWS) is a strong plus.
