About The Role


Join Rippling as a dynamic and visionary leader in our Security Division. We are seeking an exceptional Detection & Response Manager to elevate our security program to new heights. In this pivotal role, you will guide and empower a highly skilled technical team, enhancing our detection engineering capabilities and advancing our automated response functions. Collaborate closely with peers across Security and Engineering to fortify our security initiatives and protect our customer data.


Key Responsibilities


Leadership & Strategy: Spearhead the Detection and Response Team, ensuring proactive incident management and safeguarding of customer data. Develop and execute a strategic roadmap addressing top security risks and promoting operational excellence.

Innovation & Efficiency: Identify opportunities for process and system optimization within the team. Drive technological innovation to enhance detection and response capabilities.

Mentorship & Growth: Foster a culture of continuous learning and development. Mentor team members, nurture their career growth, and manage performance to build a world-class security program.

Collaboration & Compliance: Work closely with our legal team during incident management to ensure compliance. Establish and manage expectations with engineering teams, management, and external stakeholders.

Excellence & Standards: Maintain a relentless commitment to elevating engineering standards, both within your team and across the organization.

Qualifications


Extensive Experience: Minimum of 6 years in Detection & Response roles, with at least 3 years in a managerial position leading small to mid-sized security teams.

Technical Expertise: Strong technical background with hands-on experience as a Detection & Response engineer prior to transitioning to management.

Educational Background: Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.

Team Development Skills: Proven ability to set strategic roadmaps, define team and individual goals, delegate effectively, provide engineering guidance, and deliver transparent feedback. Skilled in fostering career development and ensuring high-quality results.

Rippling highly values in-office collaboration. Employees living within 30 miles of an office are expected to work onsite three days a week with those living 30-49.9 miles away expected to be in the office one day a week. Employees living over 50 miles away are required to relocate within 30 miles of an office. To enhance team cohesiveness, new employees are asked to work onsite three days a week for their first six months.


This role will receive a competitive salary + benefits + equity. The salary for US-based employees will be aligned with one of the ranges below based on location; see which tier applies to your location here.

A variety of factors are considered when determining someone’s compensation–including a candidate’s professional background, experience, and location. Final offer amounts may vary from the amounts listed below.

The pay range for this role is:

186,000 - 325,500 USD per year (US San Francisco Bay Area)

186,000 - 325,500 USD per year (US Tier 1)

167,400 - 292,950 USD per year (US Tier 2)

158,100 - 276,675 USD per year (US Tier 3)
