About the Role:


The Platform team at Rippling is building the Customer Sandbox environment from the ground up — and as a senior engineer on this team you will be responsible to take it from 0 → 1 → 10. This is a foundational initiative that will redefine how complex systems are developed, integrated, and rigorously validated at scale.


You’ll be at the forefront of solving critical distributed systems challenges — from deep tenant data isolation to cross-platform consistency — across one of the most ambitious enterprise platforms in the world. As a Senior Engineer, you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the architecture, execution, and reliability of the Customer Sandbox ecosystem.


What you will do

  • Design and build the Rippling Sandbox ecosystem that enables enterprise-grade feature validation.
  • Reduce production risk by ensuring every change is validated in realistic sandbox environments.
  • Accelerate time-to-production with robust change-syncing and push-to-prod workflows.
  • Give administrators the confidence to adopt and test new features in isolation before going live.
  • Act as a technical thought partner, mentoring other engineers and guiding architectural decisions.
  • Drive engineering excellence by shaping best practices in code quality, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with product and engineering teams across the company who rely on the platform’s robustness to succeed.
  • Influence the technical direction and tooling strategy across Rippling.


What you will need

  • Strong technical depth — quality and scope of experience matter more than years, though successful candidates typically have 7+ years of hands-on development experience.
  • A track record of optimizing performance in backend, data-intensive systems.
  • Ability to operate and scale systems in high-growth, high-complexity environments.
  • Comfort with ambiguity — you identify high-leverage problems and take ownership without waiting for perfect clarity.
  • Strong technical leadership and influence across org boundaries — not just as an implementer, but as a driver of sound, scalable technology choices.
  • Clear, concise communication — you can distill complex ideas into actionable insights for engineers, PMs, and stakeholders alike.

Our India/USA team has 25 engineers split into 3 pods who work closely with our Data Platform team, RQL team as well as product teams throughout the company rely on our analytical and data visualization platform in their product areas.
