Business Operations Manager

About Rippling

Rippling is the first way for businesses to manage all of their HR & IT—payroll, benefits, computers, apps, and more—in one unified workforce platform.

By connecting every business system to one source of truth for employee data, businesses can automate all of the manual work they normally need to do to make employee changes. Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can just click a button and set up a new employees’ payroll, health insurance, work computer, and third-party apps—like Slack, Zoom, and Office 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.2B from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

We prioritize candidate safety. Please be aware that official communication will only be sent from @Rippling.com addresses.

About the role

Business Operations drives some of Rippling’s most impactful initiatives and addresses mission-critical challenges that shape our product development, go-to-market approach, customer operations, and overall company success. This small and high-performing team excels at bringing structure to ambiguity, crafting strategic direction, aligning stakeholders, and driving operational excellence. Business Operations acts as the “connective tissue” between functions and allows our compound startup to operate “as one”.

We are looking for new BizOps Managers who are exceptional problem-solvers (able to break down complex business challenges using first-principles thinking), self-driven contributors (able to execute complex analysis with minimal supervision), hands-on operators (able to work through obstacles and get things done), and trusted partners (able to build trust and influence executive stakeholders). BizOps Managers are successful when they drive crucial business outcomes, lead successful initiatives 0-to-1, and execute on our biggest strategic and operational decisions.

Successful individuals may be called to take on specific business challenges permanently, making this team an ideal place to gain both executive and operational experience in an ultra-high-growth business and to launch into a functionally aligned career in a leadership role.

What you'll do

  • Identify hotspots in the business that require intervention and proactively investigate, strategize, and implement solutions with those business leaders to drive efficiency
  • Develop and optimize monetization strategies, including pricing and packaging, to position our diverse set of products competitively in the market and accelerate growth
  • Partner with eng, product, go-to-market, sales and other functions to launch new initiatives and help them optimize their operations through systems, process, and product modifications
  • Analyze the data relevant to any project or focus area; run your own queries, build your own dashboards, build your own Pivot Tables
  • Partner with our finance and revenue ops organizations to standardize and distribute the key operating metrics for the business

What you will need

  • 6+ years of experience in management consulting, business operations, venture capital, private equity, or as a founder. We will consider high-trajectory candidates with fewer years of experience but at top companies with a clear track record of excellence.
  • Experience in a highly cross-functional role and can clearly describe and work within the organizational dynamics of a fast-growth company
  • Naturally analytical mindset; the candidate gravitates toward a spreadsheet rather than a slide deck
  • Ability to operate at all altitudes – discussing strategy and vision with executives, and troubleshooting operations with individual contributors
  • An extreme degree of ownership and grid. You do not let go until a problem is solved for good
  • Ability to execute with conviction and good judgment with limited guidance; needs minimal direction in an ambiguous context to take action and then adapt quickly
