About the Role

Rippling is rapidly expanding its Global Payroll product, and the Netherlands is a strategically important market. We're hiring a payroll-focused Compliance Expert with deep expertise in Dutch payroll, Loonaangifte, and pensions to support Rippling's Product Compliance team.

In this role, you'll define the payroll rules based on real world requirements. You will play a key role to ensure accuracy and reliability of payroll handling as we scale in NL. You'll work closely with the County Product Lead, Legal Experts, and Payroll Operations to assess and scope payroll behaviour as regulations evolve.

This role requires an experienced Dutch payroll professional who deeply understands compliance requirements across HR and leave management, payroll calculations, Loonaangifte, pensions, and other regulated scenarios.

Full fluency in English (written and verbal) is required. Dutch fluency is desired.

The role assumes 3 days per week but there is flexibility for the right candidate.

What You'll Do

Regulatory & payroll compliance

  • Define payroll rules and edge cases (30%-ruling partial vs full, WKR free space, sectoral pension ceilings, 2-year sick-pay obligation) to ensure correct and compliant product behaviour
  • Detail sector-based requirements across the employee lifecycle stack: from HR to pensions to payroll
  • Summarise key NL payroll regulatory updates (Loonheffingen, Loonaangifte, pension rules, WKR, minimum wage, sector CAO constraints) and communicate impact
  • Track the Prinsjesdag → Belastingplan → Jan 1 cycle; flag mid-year legislative changes that affect calculations or Loonaangifte reporting

Payroll logic validation

  • Run payroll, review output, and validate payroll computations for accuracy and compliance
  • Identify inconsistencies, gaps, or risks in existing payroll logic; propose corrections
  • Support Loonaangifte scoping, field-level mapping, and validation to ensure accurate reporting to Belastingdienst
  • Maintain alignment between payroll calculations and Loonaangifte / UWV obligations
  • Cover edge cases: 30%-ruling, ZZP/DBA classification, transitievergoeding, vakantiegeld, 13e maand, termination payouts

What You'll Need

Payroll expertise

  • 10+ years Dutch payroll, ideally in a payroll provider or outsourcing environment
  • Strong knowledge of Loonheffingen fundamentals, social premiums, exemptions, and edge cases
  • Solid understanding of Loonaangifte concepts, structures, and reporting constraints
  • Familiarity with the NL pension landscape (PFZW, ABP, BPFBOUW, APF, PPI), WKR (werkkostenregeling), 30%-ruling, and ZZP/DBA

Collaboration & communication

  • Can explain complex payroll rules to non-payroll audiences clearly and concisely

Work style

  • Strong sense of ownership, autonomy, and attention to detail
  • Solid project management skills

Nice to have

  • Experience in SaaS, HRIS, or payroll software
  • Experience supporting automation or system implementations
  • PDL / PDL+ or VPS certification; NIRPA membership or active in the Dutch payroll community

Languages

  • Full fluency in English. Ideal candidate is fluent is Dutch.
