About the role
The Senior Manager, Policy and Technical Accounting will be a key leader responsible for managing aspects of accounting research, policy setting, and assessment of strategic accounting initiatives. You will play a crucial role in developing, implementing, and maintaining our global accounting policies that ensure compliance with regulatory standards and support the Rippling’s strategic objectives. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to align financial reporting practices with evolving business needs and SEC requirements. Your expertise will be instrumental in enhancing the Rippling’s financial transparency and readiness for the transition to a publicly traded entity.
What you will do
- Proactively identify, research, consult, and draft technical memorandums on all new global company initiatives, including product launches
- Directly responsible for ensuring compliance with US GAAP and maintaining appropriate controls throughout the above area of responsibility; support local GAAP requirements with our International Accounting team
- Support new corporate projects, as needed, in areas of complex accounting, including debt/equity instruments, mergers and acquisitions, financial transfers/instruments, among others.
- Lead contributor in our public readiness initiative, related to private-to-public company process changes and reporting requirements.
- Facilitate/coordinate the process of implementing new standards and accounting changes to ensure Rippling is prepared to comply at the necessary time including interpreting new guidance, developing and documenting Rippling position and policy decisions
- Support Rippling policies and accounting positions through external audit
- Monitor existing Accounting policies and update frequently, to ensure policies remain relevant with evolving business activities
- Partner closely with Rippling’s Financial Reporting, Corporate Accounting, Revenue Accounting, Treasury, Tax, Legal and Equity teams
- Provide strong leadership to the Accounting department and our broader Finance organization, delivering technical accounting training and providing valuable insights to the larger finance function
What you will need
- 10+ years in progressive roles in accounting and/or auditing within technical accounting research or financial reporting of a large public company, or equivalent public accounting firm technical accounting experience
- Mix of public company industry experience and Big 4 audit experience preferable
- BS degree in Accounting and CPA required
- Subject matter expertise in complex areas of accounting, including revenue recognition, leases, debt/equity instruments, financial instruments and consolidations.
- Proficiency with researching accounting literature including FASB, SEC, AICPA and IFRS rules and regulations
- The ability to simply explain complex or technical topics to non-expert users
- Results orientation, working on a fast-paced team, adapting to rapidly changing situations and conditions as well as a drive and bias for action
- Project and stakeholder management skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills; clear and proactive communication to senior leadership
- Motivated to learn and grow and develop knowledge of unfamiliar areas
The pay range for this role is:
120,000 - 210,000 USD per year (US Tier 1)
