About the Role:

We’re looking for an Engineering Manager to lead our Time team. You'll guide and manage a team of full-stack engineers, empowering them to build innovative solutions that help businesses around the world manage their workforce. While you'll remain technically deep, your primary focus will be on leading and mentoring your team to deliver high-impact products.

The products we create have a massive impact on how our customers operate at a global scale. Time surfaces have the highest Queries Per Second (QPS) of any endpoints at Rippling, and our team is at the forefront of scaling our infrastructure and product experiences. Additionally, Time is a critical flow for hourly employees, representing one of the highest growth levers for Rippling’s Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR).

As a key leader in Rippling’s international expansion, you'll be working on some of our most high-impact products, with major initiatives launching in 2025. This is a chance to shape the future of a rapidly growing product suite, lead your team in solving complex challenges, and help businesses manage their most valuable asset: their people.

What you will do

  • Build and drive day-to-day processes that lead to a highly efficient team of high performing engineers
  • Build a multi-quarter roadmap that drives operational excellence, performance and reliability.
  • Build and leverage partnerships across the company to land lasting impact
  • Coaching and growing the individuals on your team through mentorship and performance management.

Preferred Qualifications

  • At least 6 years of experience in software development and delivery, with in-depth knowledge of software architectures
  • At least 2 years of experience as an Engineering Manager in leading small and mid-sized development teams
  • A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or experience in a relevant field
  • Solid programming skills, a track record, and passion for improving the code structure and architecture to enhance testability and maintainability
  • Team development skills: ability to set a roadmap and goals for a team and every one of its members, delegate intelligently, offer engineering advice, deliver frequent and transparent feedback, work with team members to grow in their careers, and ensure everyone delivers quality results
  • Great project management skills to lead, care about product ownership, an outstanding customer-centric mindset, and solving problems for our customers.
