About the Role

This is a unique role positioned at the critical intersection of Financial Systems, Engineering, and Accounting Operations, dedicated to ensuring Rippling’s finance ecosystem evolves in step with our expanding business models. Based in our Bangalore office, this position carries high ownership, visibility, and impact — directly shaping how our ERP landscape, billing workflows, and system integrations scale to support Rippling’s growth.

The role requires deep cross-functional collaboration across Accounting, Finance, Billing Engineering, Payments Infrastructure, and Product teams. The ideal candidate brings a strong blend of systems architecture expertise and functional knowledge, with a proven track record of designing scalable ERP configurations, automation frameworks, and controlled integrations that strengthen finance operations.

This is an opportunity for a proactive Financial Systems Architect who thrives in an environment that demands architectural rigor and close partnership with non-technical stakeholders. We’re looking for a collaborative operator who will engage deeply in system design, guide automation strategy — including AI-enabled workflows where appropriate — and deliver resilient, scalable solutions that enhance and future-proof Rippling’s financial operations.

What You Will Do

  • Own the end-to-end ERP architecture across core financial modules (GL, AR, Revenue Management, Fixed Assets, Compliance Reporting), ensuring scalability, data integrity, and strong internal controls.
  • Translate complex accounting requirements — including ASC 606 revenue recognition, multi-entity structures, intercompany, and global tax — into structured ERP configurations, automation frameworks, and scalable system designs.
  • Design and maintain a robust controls and governance framework, including SOX compliance, segregation of duties, audit readiness, master data management, chart of accounts design, and reconciliation standards
  • Architect and oversee financial system integrations across billing platforms, ERP, data warehouses, and reporting tools, driving integration strategy through middleware and iPaaS platforms (e.g., Census, Celigo, Boomi) to ensure reliable and auditable data flows.
  • Partner closely with Accounting, Finance, Billing Engineering, and Product stakeholders to align system capabilities with operational and reporting needs while influencing architectural direction.
  • Lead ERP enhancements and automation initiatives — including AI-enabled workflows where appropriate — to improve close efficiency, reporting accuracy, and operational resilience.
  • Proactively diagnose and resolve complex reconciliation issues, integration gaps, and data inconsistencies to protect financial accuracy and system reliability.

What You Will Need

  • 6+ years of experience in Business Systems, ERP Architecture, or Finance Systems Engineering, ideally within high-growth, multi-entity environments.
  • Strong hands-on experience with ERP platforms (NetSuite strongly preferred) across core financial modules, combined with deep knowledge of subscription billing, revenue recognition, and intercompany accounting.
  • Proven experience designing and managing cross-system integrations, including middleware tools such as Census, Celigo, or Boomi.
  • Advanced proficiency in SQL, financial data modeling, and reconciliation-ready data structures; familiarity with data platforms such as Snowflake is preferred.
  • Experience operating in SOX-regulated environments, with a strong understanding of internal controls, audit processes, and financial data governance.
  • Familiarity with REST APIs, webhooks, and API testing tools (e.g., Postman) to validate integrations and troubleshoot connectivity issues.
  • Experience implementing or managing RPA and intelligent automation initiatives to streamline finance operations.
  • Strong stakeholder management skills and the ability to influence both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • A structured, automation-first mindset with a passion for building resilient, scalable financial system architectures.

Bonus Points For

  • Experience leading finance systems modernization initiatives, including redesigning system architecture to improve scalability, automation, and reporting agility.
  • Experience evaluating, selecting, and implementing new tools (e.g., billing platforms, middleware, automation tools, analytics systems) to reduce ERP dependency and increase operational flexibility.
  • Experience building or deploying intelligent automation solutions, including RPA, workflow orchestration, or AI-driven finance tools to streamline close and reconciliation processes.
  • Experience designing finance reporting architectures that unlock self-serve analytics and reduce manual reporting overhead.
