Global Payroll Operations Specialist - Netherlands

About Rippling

Rippling gives businesses one place to run HR, IT, and Finance. It brings together all of the workforce systems that are normally scattered across a company, like payroll, expenses, benefits, and computers. For the first time ever, you can manage and automate every part of the employee lifecycle in a single system.

Take onboarding, for example. With Rippling, you can hire a new employee anywhere in the world and set up their payroll, corporate card, computer, benefits, and even third-party apps like Slack and Microsoft 365—all within 90 seconds.

Based in San Francisco, CA, Rippling has raised $1.4B+ from the world’s top investors—including Kleiner Perkins, Founders Fund, Sequoia, Greenoaks, and Bedrock—and was named one of America's best startup employers by Forbes.

About the Role

We’re looking for a highly autonomous expert to join our Global Payroll Operations team. This role owns all payroll operational aspects across the Netherlands, including tax issue resolution, communication with customers and government agencies, and collaboration with R&D. We are rapidly expanding Rippling to serve the needs of employees and employers all over the world. Our Global Payroll Operations team plays a critical role in ensuring the success of our global payroll products, which are natively built and fully integrated with Rippling’s broader suite of products.

As Rippling expands its product offerings globally, there is a critical business need for Rippling to develop new muscles around global product operations and country-specific payroll expertise.

This role, Global Payroll Operations Specialist, is a critical hire that will be fully dedicated to developing and executing these new capabilities. This is not a payroll processing role; it focuses on post-payroll operational activities, triaging complex queries, and serving as a point of escalation for region-specific discrepancies. We are searching for a quick learner comfortable with ambiguity, shifting timelines, and daily tasks that are rarely repetitive.

Additionally, this role brings critical country-specific payroll expertise to support the development of our natively built payroll software and expansion into new customer segments and geographies.

This is an exciting position that requires significant cross-departmental engagement with a major impact on the product and customer experience.

What You Will Do

  • Personally own and resolve the most challenging post-payroll customer cases, including tax notice resolution and complex compliance questions, while organizing a queue of tickets.
  • Serve as the go-to expert for Netherlands payroll, including tax brackets, WBSO, 30% ruling, and WKR, partnering with R&D to address any related payroll-related product issues (e.g., calculation errors, file generation errors).
  • Act as the primary client-facing specialist during high-stakes escalations, delivering clear, transparent updates and managing expectations to preserve trust and mitigate churn risk.
  • Effectively collaborate across R&D, EOR HR/Ops, Legal, and Sales to align on strategy, remove blockers, and drive execution across various projects with competing priorities.
  • Drive down inquiry volume by performing deep-dive analysis of support tickets to identify recurring bugs for R&D prioritization, while maintaining accurate FAQs and internal documentation.

What You Will Need

  • 4+ years of Dutch payroll experience with expert-level knowledge of topics including tax tables, WBSO, 30% ruling, and WKR.
  • Demonstrated experience in problem-solving and troubleshooting with a proven ability to investigate and resolve complex payroll discrepancies.
  • Ability to be fully autonomous; you must manage your own workflow and prioritize high-impact tasks in an environment where daily tasks are not always repetitive.
  • Experience working in a payroll provider, HR software company, or a large in-house payroll function is highly preferred.
  • Strong client-facing skills with experience managing enterprise relationships and communicating effectively through systems like Salesforce or JIRA queues.
  • An adaptable attitude with the ability to take on new challenges and remain productive despite changing timelines.
  • Exceptional English fluency (written and verbal); fluency in Dutch is a huge plus!
  • Ability to overlap with U.S. hours (both EST and PST preferred).
