About the role

We're in search of a Senior Creative Director with a design and advertising background. You will be responsible for leading creative from concept to completion. You'll lead multiple visual disciplines, report to the VP of Creative, and collaborate with scientists, marketers, and multi-disciplinary creatives.

With conceptual thinking and wit, you craft impactful brand narratives and experiences.


You stay ahead of cultural and industry trends, and thrive on translating insights into compelling, data-informed creative solutions that align with research, company goals, and high-level strategy. As a steward of the Ritual brand, you’ll be entrusted to grow it forward while fostering a collaborative, enriching, and respectful environment for our Creative team and our internal and external partners.

Who you are

Lead & Inspire Creative Excellence

  • Champion creativity through critical thinking and critique to drive outstanding work that aligns with business objectives and growth KPIs.
  • Lead concept development and deliver breakthrough, narrative-driven ideas across media and channels—with a focus on performance creative that connects messages to measurable outcomes.
  • Drive continual improvement in creative quality, thinking, and capabilities.
  • Ensure that all creative choices directly ladder up to messaging strategy, brand positioning, and performance goals across acquisition and retention efforts.
  • Work hands-on as needed to bring ideas to life.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Model Ritual values in leadership and collaboration across teams.
  • Develop and support the professional growth of Creative team members.
  • Monitor and evaluate team performance, providing feedback and recognition when appropriate.
  • Advocate for the needs and concerns of the team.

Collaboration & Cross-Functional Alignment

  • Cultivate positive relationships and resolve matters between teams and individuals.
  • Collaborate across all levels of the Ritual team to achieve common goals.
  • Partner with PMO and peers on planning, recruiting, and resourcing.
  • Operational Excellence & Quality Control
  • Develop organizational policies for multiple functional areas and oversee implementation.
  • Proof creative work to ensure quality, accuracy, and consistency.

What you'll need

  • Creative Director experience leading full-funnel advertising and design for consumer brands.
  • A portfolio of produced work is required. It must showcase innovation, cultural relevance, and success in building standout brands across channels and consumer touch points: product launches, promos, brand campaigns, social, design systems, photo/video, experiential, and packaging.
  • Data-Informed: You use data to guide decisions, while also applying intuition, experience, and stakeholder input.
  • Coach & Mentor: You support others through encouragement, feedback, and knowledge-sharing. You help people grow into their potential.
  • Conflict Navigator: You address conflict early and with empathy. You guide teams toward productive dialogue and resolution.
  • Curious Thinker: You’re naturally inquisitive and always eager to learn more. You ask questions, explore new ideas, and seek to understand the “why.”

Compensation

Pay Range:  $149,000 - $211,000

Your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. The salary range represents the entire compensation range for this position. Exact compensation will depend on a number of factors, which may include the successful candidate's skills, level, years of experience, technical expertise, and other qualifications. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. This role is also eligible for equity + generous benefits + 401k + unlimited PTO etc - see our list of perks/ benefits below.
