About the role

Ritual is seeking a hands-on, strategic Director of Sales to join our growing Retail team during an exciting period of expansion. This leader will oversee and grow key wholesale accounts while spearheading new channel opportunities. Looking ahead, they will guide Ritual’s entry into Club and Mass retail.

This role is ideal for someone who combines vision with operational excellence, enjoys building strong partnerships, and thrives in collaborative, fast-moving environments.

What you'll do

  • Retail Strategy & Account Leadership
  • Drive revenue growth and execution across key wholesale accounts.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for retail buyers—building strong, collaborative relationships.

  • Create and deliver joint business plans, pitch innovations, and lead trade negotiations.

  • Manage pricing, promotional calendars, and assortment strategies tailored to each account.

Channel Expansion: Club & Mass

  • Lead go-to-market strategy for new retail classes of trade.

  • Develop and manage launch roadmaps for Mass/Club partners, including forecasting and promotional planning.

  • Craft tailored retail strategies that align retailer dynamics with Ritual’s premium brand positioning.

Forecasting & Business Planning

  • Partner with Finance and Ops teams on shipment and consumption forecasts.

  • Monitor POS and inventory performance to inform replenishment and promotional strategy.

  • Deliver data-driven insights and updates through regular retail recaps.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Marketing, Ops, Brand, and Product teams to ensure alignment on launch timelines, inventory, and demand planning.

  • Help develop SOPs for scalable retail execution.

  • Partner with Creative teams to maintain brand consistency across in-store and online channels.

Category Management & Analytics

  • Analyze syndicated and retailer-specific data (e.g., Nielsen, Target POL, Walmart Connect) to guide strategic decisions and uncover growth opportunities.

  • Conduct competitive reviews to refine positioning, shelf strategy, and pricing.

What you'll need

  • 7–10 years of retail sales experience in CPG, with exposure to Mass, Natural, and Club channels.

  • Proven success managing national accounts (e.g., Target, Whole Foods, Walmart, UNFI).

  • Experience developing joint business plans, managing promotions, and launching new products.

  • Strong forecasting and planning skills; able to collaborate effectively with Finance, Ops, and Marketing.

  • Deep knowledge of retail promotional planning, POS analytics, and inventory management.

Bonus Skills (Nice to Have)

  • Experience with “better-for-you” consumables in health & wellness, food, hydration, or sports performance categories.

  • Proficiency with syndicated data tools (Spins, IRI, Numerator, etc.).

  • Familiarity with distributors (UNFI, KeHE).
  • Tools: Google Sheets/Excel for planning and analysis.

Compensation

  • Pay Range:  $130,000 - 193,000
  • Your base salary is one part of your total compensation package. The salary range represents the entire compensation range for this position. Exact compensation will depend on a number of factors, which may include the successful candidate's skills, level, years of experience, technical expertise, and other qualifications. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. This role is also eligible for equity + generous benefits + 401k + unlimited PTO etc - see our list of perks/ benefits below.
