About the role

This fixed-site Lead Wind Technician role requires proven, hands-on field experience performing maintenance, troubleshooting, and corrective repairs on wind turbines. You will work daily with mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and PLC-driven systems on operational units.


This is a NON Travel, Local Site Role, located in Tracy, CA- Vestas 2MW Platform -Exp Required


What You'll Do


  • Assist in developing and improving maintenance, quality, and safety processes and procedures.
  • Assist with identifying and procuring tooling, consumables, and spare parts inventory.
  • Supervise a crew during scheduled and unscheduled maintenance; assign, plan, and coordinate tasks with technicians and contractors.
  • Perform mechanical and electrical component repairs or replacements in accordance with manufacturer requirements; strategize open work items (punch lists) to maintain or increase availability.
  • Plan, schedule, assign, and perform preventive maintenance in alignment with OEM maintenance manuals.
  • Provide technical guidance to teams for maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting.
  • Mentor and supervise junior and mid-level technicians.
  • Read, interpret, and apply schematics, diagrams, and procedures to troubleshoot complex mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues on Vestas wind turbines.
  • Enforce all mandated safety rules and equipment usage; comply with LOTO, safety procedures, environmental requirements, and all RNWBL, customer, and regulatory standards.
  • Complete all required reporting and documentation for assigned projects and tasks, including CMMS, DSPTCH, visit logs, and daily/monthly reports.
  • Communicate issues, resolutions, and recommendations to leadership and customers.
  • Document all service activities and parts consumption using digital reporting systems (CMMS).
  • Adhere to contractual requirements, local laws, regulations, and NERC compliance standards.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation schedule (24/7/365).

Qualifications/Requirements

  • VESTAS V47 Wind Turbine experience preferred.
  • 3+ years of wind maintenance, mechanical, and technical experience.
  • You must have held a lead-level role for at least two years, guiding crews through field maintenance, troubleshooting, and Vestas V47 work scopes.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
  • Comfortable working at heights (exceeding 300 feet), in confined spaces, and in outdoor environments.
  • Ability to work in varying weather conditions.
  • Willingness to travel from time to time for training or to assist on other projects.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to OSHA standards.
