At ROXBOX, we're revolutionizing the construction industry through innovative, custom container and modular solutions and we're seeking an experienced Lead Estimator to quote complex, off-site construction projects. Our ideal candidate takes pride in delivering high-quality work and enjoys a data-driven approach to problem-solving. This role requires an expert-level understanding of new commercial construction. About the role
As Lead Estimator, you will own and manage the estimation process of our volumetric construction projects. This critical position requires a highly detailed individual who delivers estimates with great accuracy in short timelines. The lead estimator works closely with project managers, architects, and engineers to develop precise cost estimates and budgets. You will analyze plans and specifications, review contracts, and determine the costs of labor, material, and equipment required for a project. The lead estimator also provides input to bids and proposals, negotiates (purchasing) vendor contracts, and performs scope verification.
What you'll do
- Determining overall and detailed costs for construction projects (ROMs, BOMs, etc)
- Performing quantity take-offs, analyses, estimates, and studies for all items incorporated in the assigned scope
- Procurement strategy and Purchasing workflow
- Creation of precise Bill of Materials (BOM) with project designer
- Material vendor engagement for availability and pricing of materials
- Subcontractor interaction for bids
- Collaboration with design team and production team to verify findings and estimates
- Formulation of granular spreadsheets for final estimation
- Defining and refinement of estimation SOPs
- Change order cost adjustments
- Sales support throughout the project
- Scope of Work Documents
- Analyze and assemble cost data, unit prices, historical costs, and information that can be developed and used as a database for future conceptual estimates.
Qualifications
- 10 years of experience in the commercial construction industry
- Minimum of 4 years in construction project estimation roles
- Experience in volumetric, modular, or steel framing construction is highly valuable
- Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions, and trade practices
- Keen attention to detail, accuracy, and the ability to perform mathematical calculations
- Complete knowledge of estimating documents and the ability to provide accurate qualitative and quantitative analysis of the documents
- Strong communication skills working with cross-functional team members
- A successful record of estimating projects ranging from $50K-$10+ million
- Self-motivated and can work well under pressure delivering results within tight deadlines
- Computer literacy and working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, etc).
