Position Summary
The Spiritual Formation Manager plays a vital role in nurturing the spiritual growth of Redeemer West Side's congregation. By partnering closely with pastoral directors and lay leaders, this position plans, manages, and hosts engaging spiritual formation programs that guide congregants from exploring Christianity to living out a mature, flourishing faith. This tactical and administrative role requires exceptional organizational skills, proactive problem-solving, and strong interpersonal abilities to deliver formation events, conferences, and other initiatives. This position collaborates with other teams and staff, such as communications, W83 operations, scheduling, and volunteer recruiting.
Job Description
Planning and Execution
- Events | Manage and implement all end-to-end event administration and logistics for formation meetings, trainings, seminars, classes, cohorts, speaker events, and conferences, ensuring high-quality standards and timelines
- Pre-event tasks include, but are not limited to: booking room/venue reservations, scheduling, communications, IT setup, catering, and preparation of agenda/handouts
- At events and classes, prepare end-to-end details and serve as a host to registrants and guests. Day of tasks include: setting up meeting rooms, meeting the needs of speakers and guests, providing logistics support for class instructors and participants
- Planning | Create project plans and assignments, then manage team deadlines, to ensure that formation initiatives get completed, and that results are achieved
- Coordination | Meet with the Pastoral Team and other Redeemer West Side team members as needed to plan and execute an annual schedule of formation events for leaders
Communications and Promotions
- Promotion | Develop, execute, and evaluate the effectiveness of the promotion and registration for RWS classes and other formation opportunities
- Communication | Send proactive communication to prospective, current, and former participants
- Correspondence | Respond to inquiries regarding classes and other formation opportunities
- Registration | Manage registration through the database for all formation opportunities
- Curriculum | Edit and publish class materials in partnership with instructors
Staff meetings, retreats, and culture
- Participation | Actively participate and engage with the full staff and formation team to contribute to the overall mission of the church
Qualifications Profile
- Embrace Redeemer West Side’s vision and have a Gospel-oriented heart for New York City.
- Must be aligned with the core theological principles, including the core ministry values of RWS and the Presbyterian Church of America, including the Westminster Confession.
- Derive joy from bringing ideas to life, pushing to completion, and pushing through obstacles.
- Five-plus years of ministry and event planning experience is strongly preferred. Must be a highly proficient administrator who is detail-oriented and self-motivated.
- Experienced at managing multiple projects simultaneously, prioritizing, and promptly following through on details to completion.
- Experienced at helping others accomplish their goals. Get energy and joy from providing others with the support they need to get something started and offering the human glue required to hold it together.
- Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Team player with the ability to adapt and thrive in a dynamic organizational environment.
- Proficient at Google Workspace. Capable of using databases and project management tools (such as Asana and Slack). Willing to complete the Asana Skills Foundation Badge within 30 days of hire.
- Minimum Associate’s degree required.

- Flexible hours some weeks. Must be available Sundays, some Saturdays and evenings, as needed.
- Training offered for ministry-specific software.
