Position Overview

We are seeking a talented and experienced Senior Photographer to join our creative team. This hands-on role involves capturing high-quality imagery, managing in-house photography teams, and collaborating with cross-functional partners to bring our products and brand stories to life. If you have a strong background in studio photography, a passion for visual storytelling, and experience in the home industry, we want to hear from you! This role will operate on a hybrid basis, requiring at least 3 days a week onsite at our Cranbury, NJ studio.


Essential Job Functions

Photography & Direction: 

  • Execute and oversee studio and location shoots, ensuring consistency in lighting, angles, and styles across all product categories. 
  • Capture high-quality images for PDP, online lookbooks, marketing materials, and social media. 
  • Provide lighting direction and collaborate with external partners, including retouchers and CGI artists, to achieve exceptional results. 

Creative Collaboration: 

  • Work closely with the Creative Director, Photo Studio Manager, and cross-functional teams to align on concepts and deliverables. 
  • Follow storyboards to ensure visual consistency and brand alignment while offering input on styling, props, and set design. 
  • Provide retouching notes and feedback to internal and external teams to ensure deliverables meet brand standards. 

Team Leadership: 

  • Manage the in-house photography team, including mentoring the Photographer and Visual Stylist, to maintain a high standard of work. 
  • Ensure timelines for shoots and post-production are met, delivering assets to the creative team on schedule. 

Technical Expertise: 

  • Operate and maintain photography equipment, with openness to various systems (Canon, Nikon, etc.). 
  • Utilize Capture One for tethered shooting and image processing. 
  • Stay current on industry trends and emerging technologies to enhance production quality. 

Video Production: 

  • Collaborate on video shoots to support marketing and branding initiatives. 
  • Provide lighting and creative direction to align video content with the overall brand aesthetic. 

You Have

  • 6–8 years of professional photography experience, including studio and on-location shoots. 
  • Expertise in product photography, with a strong portfolio demonstrating consistency in lighting, styling, and composition. 
  • Experience in the home industry (bedding, rugs, or interiors) strongly preferred. 
  • Proficiency in Capture One and familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite. 
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills, with experience managing creative teams. 
  • Understanding of retouching workflows and ability to provide actionable feedback. 
  • Video production experience is a significant plus. 
  • In-house photography experience preferred.

The pay range for this role is:

85,000 - 105,000 USD per year (RugsUSA Headquarters)
