Outside Sales Engineer - Bay Area

Rust Automation & Controls, a representative of Endress+Hauser Inc., is seeking a dynamic and driven Outside Sales Engineer to join our team covering the Bay Area, South San Fran, Hayward, Dublin, Livermore areas. In this role, you will collaborate with customers across a variety of industries to deliver innovative solutions by promoting and selling the products and services offered by Rust Automation & Controls and our valued manufacturing partners.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop a deep understanding of all products and solutions offered by Rust Automation & Controls.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to promote products, solutions, and services to commercial, industrial, and municipal accounts within the assigned territory.
  • Drive sales growth and gross margin by increasing penetration in existing accounts and establishing relationships with new customers.
  • Analyze specifications, application requirements, and related documents to prepare comprehensive quotations in collaboration with the Inside Sales team.
  • Conduct joint sales calls with management and manufacturing partners to strengthen relationships and maximize opportunities.
  • Perform on-site walkdowns in industrial and commercial environments to understand customer needs and recommend tailored solutions.
  • Maintain an accurate and up-to-date CRM database, including account details, contacts, opportunities, and projects.
  • Clearly articulate solutions and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful execution.

Qualifications:

  • A technical degree or 2–3 years of experience in industrial sales or a related field.
  • Self-motivated with a proven ability to set and achieve aggressive goals.
  • A positive, resilient, and teachable mindset, with a commitment to continuous learning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to listen to customer needs and build lasting relationships.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Confidence in working independently from a home office and managing a local territory.
  • Willingness to travel frequently within the assigned region, with occasional overnight stays.
  • Experience in leveraging internal resources to produce high-quality, collaborative results.
