This is a full-timehybrid position working collaboratively with colleagues across the US and Europe.  Our team is expected to be in office at either our Hoboken, NJ or Mahwah, NJ location at least 3 days per week.

Who You Are: S44 Automotive is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to become a founding member of our Operations team, owning and leading the technical implementation of multiple strategic initiatives. You have a track record of optimizing observability setups, designing resilient production systems, and automation.  Yoaren’t afraid to step outside of your day-to-day tasks, jumping in to assist your teammates to create positive change. Your dedication to continuous improvement is evident in regularly reviewing code, architecture, and security practices to enhance reliability and scalability. Beyond technical contributions, you serve as a mentor, fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the team. 


What You Bring to the Team:  

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field  

  • At least 4 years of experience in a SRE/DevOps role.  

  • Proficient in major programming languages, such as Java and/or Python.  

  • Proficient in AWS & GCP cloud architectures and best practices 

  • Hands on experience with IaC frameworks, such as terraform. 

  • Expertise in observability, with hands on experience designing and implementing monitoring, logging, and tracing. 

  • Experience with containers and orchestration platforms such as Docker, AWS ECS, and Kubernetes. 

  • In-depth experience in troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and incident management and resolution. A passion for automation and DevOps principles. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

  • Develop, maintain, and optimize observability setup, including proactive monitoring, logging, and tracingensuring high availability, scalability, and security. 

  • Design and implement robust production systems for high availability, while keeping cost in mind. 

  • Document best practices and operational guidelines for current and future products. 

  • Develop and manage disaster recovery and response plans. 

  • Work closely with engineering & support to automate processes to improve deployments, upgrades, monitoringtasks, and alerting of various production systems. 

  • Support and assist with Tier 2 Application Support tasks, such as data entry, customer support, and releasesAssist the team in automating manual tasks. 

  • Participate in on-call rotations (after work hours and weekends) for production systemsmanage incidentsroot cause analysis and problem resolution. 

  • Continuously improve products reliability, availability, and scalability through regular reviews of code, architecture, and security. 

  • Implement features related to system stability, monitoring, and reliability. 

  • Guide and mentor other engineers on best practices in availability, reliability, tooling, and methodologies. 


 

Within Your First Month You Will:  

  • Immerse yourself in the data and systems underlying our products. 

  • Understand our existing product portfolio, roadmap, and growth strategy. 

  • Define key objectives for your work. 

  • Develop an operating & collaboration model with the team across engineering and product. 

  • Take ownership of at least one production system and its operations. 

 

 Within Your First 3 Months You’ll: 

  • Implement and improve existing observability and monitoring solutions.  

  • Have developed a technical roadmap for improving our production systems.  

  • Take ownership of several production systems and services from deployment to on-call. 

  • Interrogate data pipelines underlying our products, propose and implement improvements to their resiliencyobservability, and quality.
