About This Role

We're not looking for your typical LinkedIn-scrolling, template-sending SDR. At Salad, we're seeking a digitally-native, community-savvy Sales Development Representative who thrives in the uncharted territories of modern B2B sales. You'll be our pioneer in reaching prospects where they actually spend their time: Discord servers, Reddit communities, niche forums, and emerging platforms that traditional sales teams ignore.

This role is perfect for someone who understands that today's AI decision-makers aren't always found through conventional channels and that authentic relationship-building often happens in unexpected places. We need a self-driven individual who can identify successful patterns, learn independently, and continuously adapt their approach based on what's working. You'll be expected to spot opportunities that others miss and develop repeatable strategies from your discoveries without constant guidance.

Bonus points if you come from an engineering or technical background. Our platform is highly technical, and our team speaks the language of developers and engineers. This isn't just any old sales job: you'll be selling cutting-edge technology to technical AI decision-makers who can spot a surface-level pitch from miles away.

Key Responsibilities

Outreach & Lead Generation

  • Meet customers where they are, wherever that might be by navigating alternative platforms including Discord, Reddit, Telegram, niche forums, gaming communities, and emerging social platforms to identify and engage potential prospects
  • Execute multi-channel campaigns across traditional and non-traditional platforms simultaneously
  • Craft personalized messaging that references community interactions, shared interests, or platform-specific context
  • Identify warm introduction opportunities through mutual connections in various online communities
  • Track and qualify leads from diverse sources using creative attribution methods
  • Maintain consistent pipeline of qualified opportunities across all channels, managing 20+ active prospects weekly
  • Scale community-based outreach to handle high-volume prospect management while maintaining relationship quality

Meeting Generation & Qualification

  • Book qualified discovery calls with prospects sourced from alternative channels
  • Conduct thorough prospect research using both traditional tools and community intelligence
  • Qualify opportunities using established criteria while adapting to non-traditional buyer journeys
  • Collaborate with Account Executives to ensure smooth handoffs and context sharing
  • Achieve monthly meeting and pipeline targets across all prospecting channels

Platform Innovation & Strategy

  • Stay ahead of emerging platforms and evaluate their potential for B2B prospecting
  • Experiment with new outreach methodologies and document what works for future scaling
  • Share insights and best practices with the broader sales team about alternative channel success
  • Develop SOPs for community-based prospecting that can be replicated by future hires

Required Qualifications

  • 1-3 years of sales development or prospecting experience, preferably in B2B SaaS
  • Deep familiarity with digital communities including Discord, Reddit, specialized forums, and emerging platforms
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding SDR metrics (meetings booked, pipeline generated, etc.)
  • Strong written communication skills with ability to adapt tone and style for different platforms and communities
  • Self-starter mentality with comfort operating in ambiguous, unstructured environments
  • Basic understanding of CRM systems (HubSpot, Salesforce, etc.) and sales tech stack
  • High-volume pipeline management with comfort juggling 20+ active prospects weekly across multiple platforms
  • Proven ability to scale relationship-building efforts without sacrificing quality or authenticity

Preferred Qualifications

  • Engineering or technical background with the ability to understand and communicate complex technical concepts
  • Active participation in relevant online communities related to our target market
  • Experience with social selling beyond traditional LinkedIn approaches
  • Familiarity with developer communities
  • Content creation experience (Reddit posts, Discord community management, forum contributions)
  • Experience with alternative communication tools (Telegram, Discord, Reddit, etc.)
  • Previous startup or high-growth company experience

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary: $100K On-Target Earnings

The pay range for this role is:
