About the role
The Senior Director of Engineering is a hands-on leader responsible for stabilizing, aligning, and elevating the performance of our Engineering and Product organization. This role combines technical oversight, engineering management, and cultural stewardship. You will drive day-to-day execution, ensure clarity and accountability, remove blockers, and foster a culture of ownership and transparency.
You will partner closely with executive leadership to translate vision into tactical execution and build a high-performance team that delivers scalable, high-quality solutions.
What you'll do
- Provide architectural guidance and oversight to ensure sound technical decisions and scalable solutions that align to our long term strategy
- Lead daily and weekly engineering and product meetings, serving as the first point of contact for direction, problem-solving, and escalation.
- Drive clarity and visibility on project priorities, timelines, and execution, escalating risks early.
- Partner with COO to align engineering direction with business goals and revenue impact. Ensure the COO is present and has visibility to the raw state of the teams.
- Provide technical education to COO and LT along the way.
- Remove blockers and enforce engineering standards and best practices.
- Build and maintain a culture of transparency, accountability, and ownership across the team.
- Encourage open communication, constructive challenge, and high trust.
- Evaluate and develop talent, ensuring the right people are in the right seats.
- Foster collaboration between engineering, product, and cross-functional teams and a Customer First mindset within our technical team members.
- Hold a high standard of accountability and ownership within the team.
- Own and establish clear, visible, and meaningful KPI metrics that represent the team's performance and future outcomes.
- Coach leaders on tactical decision-making and downstream impacts.
What you bring
- 10+ years of experience in engineering leadership roles.
- Proven track record of stabilizing and scaling high-performing engineering teams.
- Strong architectural and technical problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to drive clarity, alignment, and delivery in fast-paced environments.
- Excellent communication and coaching skills.
- Experience fostering high-accountability, high-ownership cultures.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and adapt quickly to shifting priorities.
