We are helping thousands of researchers at 20 of the top 40 global pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies increase the speed and quality at which they are conducting their research. It is an exciting time; our biotech company is growing quickly and needs the best team members to join us.
Sanguine Biosciences is seeking an AI Engineer I to join our Revenue Operations team and help build the next generation of AI-powered automation tools. This role is ideal for a recent graduate or early-career engineer who is passionate about large language models (LLMs), agentic workflows, and practical AI application.
You will work closely with our Senior Salesforce Solutions Architect to design and develop AI agents that reduce operational overhead, streamline data workflows, and unlock new efficiencies across the organization. This is a hands-on engineering role where you will build, test, and iterate on real AI systems from day one. This role reports to the Director, Technology Platforms.
Examples of Systems You May Create:
- Salesforce Devops/Admin AI Agent
- AI Voice Agent
- Workflow Automations
- Data Extraction AI Agent
- Donor Eligibility AI Agent
- Feasibility AI Agent
- Google Sheet AI Agent
- Scheduling AI Agent
- Portal Development AI Agent
- Portal Assistant AI Agent
Primary Responsibilities:
AI Agent Development
- Build, test, and deploy AI agents and LLM-powered automation workflows
- Work hands-on with Python to analyze data, experiment with new natural language model architectures, perform prompt engineering on LLMs, benchmark and monitor model accuracy, deploy models into production for real-time inferencing to support various use cases.
- Develop and maintain prompt engineering strategies for AI-powered pipelines, optimizing for reliability, accuracy, and performance.
- Integrate AI outputs with Salesforce and other enterprise systems by structuring and routing model responses into the correct records, objects, and workflows.
- Build PDF and document extraction pipelines using LLM models to parse clinical and operational documents and feed structured data downstream.
- Assist in designing and evaluating Salesforce Agentforce and Einstein AI use cases in collaboration with the Salesforce Architect.
Workflow Automation & Integration
- Work hands-on with node-based automation. Handle error triggers, wait nodes, and pass JSON data between different API services.
- Develop and maintain automation workflows connecting AI services, Salesforce, and other operational platforms.
- Write clean, well-documented Python scripts and API integrations to extend AI agent capabilities and support data transformation pipelines.
- Support the monitoring and error handling of AI-powered workflows, troubleshooting failures and improving pipeline resilience.
- Assist in implementing webhook-based and event-driven architectures to trigger AI pipelines from operational system activity.
Dexpertise
- Partner with Operations, Sales, and Finance teams to identify and scope new AI agent use cases that drive efficiency and reduce manual effort.
- Stay current with rapidly evolving AI tooling, LLM capabilities, and agentic frameworks, bringing new ideas and approaches to the team.
- Contribute to Sanguine's AI-first development philosophy by leveraging AI tooling for code generation, documentation, and testing under established quality standards.
Documentation & Quality
- Document AI agent architectures, prompt designs, integration patterns, and deployment procedures in clear, implementation-ready runbooks.
- Write and maintain test cases for AI workflows to validate output quality, catch regressions, and ensure model behavior meets business requirements.
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to team development standards under the guidance of the Senior Salesforce Architect.
- Track and report on AI agent performance metrics and operational ROI, supporting data-driven decision-making for future investments.
Collaboration & Growth
- Work alongside the Senior Salesforce Solutions Architect and Technology Platforms Director on a day-to-day basis, learning enterprise Salesforce development patterns while contributing AI
Position Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field (recent graduates encouraged to apply).
- Demonstrated experience building with LLMs and AI APIs (e.g., Anthropic Claude, OpenAI, Gemini) through coursework, personal projects, internships, or open-source work.
- Proficiency in Python, including working with REST APIs, JSON data structures, and automation scripting.
- Familiarity with workflow automation tools such as N8N, Zapier, Make, or similar platforms.
- Understanding of prompt engineering principles and practical experience constructing prompts for complex, multi-step tasks.
- Exposure to Salesforce (administration, APIs, or development) is a plus but not required.
- Ability to write clean, readable, and well-documented code suitable for production environments.
- Strong problem-solving skills and intellectual curiosity - comfortable researching unfamiliar tools and working through ambiguity independently.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
- Experience building AI agent workflows with tool use, multi-step reasoning, or retrieval-augmented generation (RAG).
- Exposure to Salesforce development (LWC, Apex, Flow, or REST/SOAP APIs).
- Familiarity with version control (Git) and basic CI/CD concepts.
- Experience with JavaScript or Node.js.
- Knowledge of healthcare, life sciences, or clinical research data environments.
- Prior internship or project experience integrating AI pipelines with enterprise SaaS platforms (CRM, ERP, LIMS, etc)
Pay: $90,000 annually plus performance based bonus
