About the role:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized individual to join our team as a Laboratory Specimen Technician. The primary responsibilities of this role include preparing laboratory specimens for analysis and testing, accurately identifying and labeling specimens, and ensuring the proper packing and shipping of specimens to testing facilities. The successful candidate will also be responsible for data entry of sample information, resolving any problem specimens, and utilizing robotic liquid handling instruments for specimen transfer.

Responsibilities include:

• Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testing
• Unpack and route specimens to their respective staging areas
• Accurately identify and label specimens
• Pack and ship specimens to proper testing facilities
• Meet department activity and production goals
• Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples
• Data entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner
• Resolve and document any problem specimens
• Use robotic liquid handling instrument to transfer specimen samples

Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or equivalent
• No relative experience required (1-2 years preferred)
• Previous sample accessioning experience is a plus
• Comfortable handling biological specimens
• Ability to accurately identify specimens
• Experience working in a team environment
• Strong data entry and organizational skills
• High level of attention to detail
• Proficient in MS Office Excel
• Ability to lift 50lbs

Position Location - San Diego, California (Sorrento Valley)

Position Type: Contract-to-Hire

Compensation: $22.00 - $25.00 per hour
