Accounting Manager

About the role:

As our Accounting Manager, you will play a pivotal role in our operations team, driving automation, process improvement, and clarity in our financial reporting function far beyond a monthly close. We are a rapidly growing company, and we are looking for people who move swiftly and think independently. You will work closely with our executive team and financial leadership, investors, and external parties to communicate key drivers of growth and improve efficiencies, adding value to all of Sapient. The role will also include managing and optimizing a sophisticated financial reporting cadence in place.


Responsibilities Include:

  • Own the month-end accounting close process, ensuring accurate and timely completion of items.
  • Management of day to day operational accounting areas, such as Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll.
  • Supervise and provide coaching to a staff accountant.
  • Play a key role in refining budgeting and forecasting processes within our organization. You should be looking for opportunities to leverage our data in ways that inform and provide a foundation for critical operational decisions.
  • Preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with US GAAP.
  • Support and produce communications with external parties, such as our investors, our auditors, and our customers.
  • Look for ways to automate, streamline, or otherwise make Sapient more efficient, supporting the entire team’s delivery objectives.
  • Provide the first answer to key questions asked by finance, operations, and the laboratory.
  • Support segregation of duties and provide exacting control in a growing business.
  • Maintain and review key accounting, reconciliation, and allocation schedules to close the financial reporting cycle consistent with an Accounting Manager role.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelors Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 4+ years of experience, inclusive of public firm and industry. Public accounting experience at a large firm is highly preferred.
  • Experience with commonly used ERPs is preferred, Precise and thoughtful communication skills.
  • Active CPA license preferred.
