Saturday - 7am - 1pm
Compensation: $18 - $24 Dependent Upon Experience

About the role
The Mechanic's Helper will be responsible lubing and fueling all equipment for safe and efficient operation of a fuel truck to service machines on company property. Must be able to conduct pre-shift equipment check and perform light service/maintenance work. May need to assist in machine maintenance and repair activities. This role reports to the Maintenance Manager of Silver Creek Materials.
What you'll do
- Perform routine detailed pre-shift inspection of the fuel truck.
- Operate and park the fuel truck in adherence to company and MSHA guidelines, using adequate lighting as needed.
- Provide fueling and preventative maintenance to machines located in the maintenance shop and around company property.
- Activate the fuel truck's PTO and pumps.
- Record the hours of individual machines.
- Record the fuel amounts administered.
- Ensure all hoses are retracted, pumps and PTO are off prior to continuing to the next machine.
- Prior to the end of the shift, refill any tanks as needed so machines are ready for the next shift.
- Communicate with maintenance as concerns develop or as routine preventative maintenance is due.
- Read and comprehend the fuel truck's operations manual.
- Maintain a safe working environment and recognize potential risks.
- Assist other departments as needed.
Qualifications
- 0-2 years of experience as a lube technician or operating a fuel truck for machine maintenance. Experience in the mining, compost, and/or construction industry preferred.
- Basic mechanical understanding and problem-solving skills.
- Must comply with background check and Drug-free Workplace Policy.
- Compliance with safety regulations as outlined by the Company and OSHA/MSHA.
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions for extended time periods.
- Ability to physically lift a minimum of 50 pounds.
- Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers / peers in job duties.
- Must be dependable and coachable.
- Bi-lingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
- Valid Driver's License.
