Position Overview: 
Silver Creek Materials (SCM) is a surface mining, large-scale composting, and recycling operation on the West Side of Fort Worth. SCM is seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Screening Plant Mechanic to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for inspecting, supervising, follow up work on issues and overseeing the operation, and maintenance of screening plants used for material processing in the mining, and composting industry. You will ensure that the equipment is functioning properly and efficiently to achieve optimal productivity, while also identifying and resolving any safety or quality issues that arise. This role reports to the Director of Maintenance.
 
Position Responsibilities:

Equipment Maintenance and Repair:

  • Perform routine inspections, maintenance, and repairs on screening plant equipment, including crushers, screens, conveyors, and related machinery.
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues and develop effective repair solutions.
  • Replace worn or damaged components, such as belts, pulleys, bearings, and hydraulic systems.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance to minimize downtime and extend equipment lifespan.

Troubleshooting:

  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, ensuring timely and accurate diagnosis.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve complex mechanical or operational problems.

Safety Compliance:

  • Adhere to all safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Promote and maintain a culture of safety within the team.

Documentation:

  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance and repair activities, including parts usage, equipment history, and work completed.
  • Provide detailed reports and documentation as needed.

Equipment Testing:

  • Conduct testing and quality checks on equipment to verify proper operation.
  • Perform adjustments and calibration as necessary to meet production requirements.

Parts Management:

  • Order and maintain an inventory of spare parts, ensuring availability for repairs and maintenance.
  • Collaborate with the procurement department to source necessary components.

Training and Collaboration:

  • Train and mentor junior mechanics or team members as needed.
  • Collaborate with other departments and team members to optimize plant operations
Requirements:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in screening plant operation and maintenance.
  • Experience with heavy equipment and machinery.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Basic computer skills for record keeping and communication purposes.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and procedures related to screening plant operation and maintenance.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions and adhere to safety protocols.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Associate or bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a related field.
  • Certifications in screening plant operation and maintenance.
  • Experience working in the construction industry.
  • Experience with maintenance scheduling and planning.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to standing, walk, bend, and climb for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to operate heavy equipment.
  • Ability to work in outdoor conditions, including exposure to dust, dirt, and other environmental factors.

The pay range for this role is:

25 - 35 USD per hour (Silver Creek Materials)
