Job Title: Plant Mechanic

Location: 2251 Silver Creek Rd, Fort Worth, TX 76108

FLSA Classification: Non-Exempt

Position Type and Schedule: Full-Time

Schedule: Monday - Friday 6:00am - 3:00pm and Saturday 7:00am - 1:00pm, if needed

Schedules are subject to change and overtime in not guaranteed.

Pay Range: $33.00 - $38.00 per hour DOE

About the role


A plant mechanic in a mining company plays a crucial role in maintaining, repairing, and ensuring the optimal operation of the machinery and equipment used at the mine site.

What you'll do

  • Routine Maintenance: Conducting scheduled inspections, lubrication, and maintenance of heavy machinery like crushers, conveyors, loaders, and trucks to ensure that all equipment is operating efficiently.
  • Repairs: Diagnosing mechanical issues and repairing or replacing faulty parts on various plant equipment. This includes engines, hydraulics, electrical systems, and other components.
  • Troubleshooting: Quickly identifying issues during production to minimize downtime, ensuring that production continues without significant disruptions.
  • Installation of Equipment: Assisting in the installation of new plant equipment, ensuring it’s properly aligned and connected to existing systems.
  • Safety Compliance: Adhering to safety standards and protocols while performing maintenance and repairs to prevent accidents and injuries.
  • Record Keeping: Maintaining detailed maintenance records, including work orders, parts replaced, and hours worked on each piece of equipment.
  • Collaboration: Working with engineers, supervisors, and other team members to plan and execute maintenance activities in alignment with production schedules.

Qualifications

  • Mechanical expertise in diagnosing and repairing complex machinery and equipment.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and schematics for equipment troubleshooting.
  • Familiarity with the operation of mining machinery and their various systems.
  • Experience using diagnostic tools such as voltmeters, oscilloscopes, and pressure testers.
  • Welding and fabrication skills are often required for certain repair tasks.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and the ability to work in a physically demanding and potentially dangerous environment.
  • Education and Experience:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; vocational training in heavy equipment mechanics or a related field is often required.
  • A minimum of 3-5 years of experience working with heavy machinery, ideally in a mining, construction, or industrial setting.

Work Environment:

  • Typically works in mining sites that can be remote and challenging environments, requiring long hours and sometimes working in harsh weather conditions.
  • The role often involves shift work, as mining operations run 24/7, which can include night shifts and weekends.
  • Physical demands include heavy lifting, standing for long periods, and the need to work in tight spaces or on large machinery.
