Position Overview: 

Silver Creek Materials (SCM) is a surface mining, large-scale composting, and recycling operation on the West Side of Fort Worth. SCM is seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented individual to join our team. As a Lead Mining Screening Plant Mechanic within our esteemed mining company, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the efficiency, safety, and optimization of our mining plant operations. You will spearhead initiatives focused on reliability, maintenance, and performance improvement, leveraging your technical expertise to enhance the reliability and longevity of our critical equipment and processes. Your responsibilities will involve proactive problem-solving, data analysis, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to maximize the productivity and sustainability of our mining operations. The Lead Mining Screening Plant Mechanic will report directly to the Maintenance and Infrastructure Director.

The Lead Mining Screening Plant Mechanic works with a multidisciplinary maintenance team to determine the overall strategy and plans for the department and provides expertise, knowledge, and guidance for maintenance related to predictive and preventive maintenance, equipment reliability and condition monitoring, etc.
 
Responsibilities:
  • This position develops, implements, and audits equipment inspections.
  • Developing as needed and refining the EMS (Equipment Management System).
  • Identifies System constraints and proactively pursues the elimination of them through the continuous improvement cycle.
  • Ensures continuous production is uninterrupted by equipment failures and reduces production costs through the development of maintenance methods to improve process efficiency and reliability.
  • Leads others and/or performs root cause analysis of equipment failures. Acts as a subject matter expert as required and assists in the identification and implementation of corrective actions or technologies.
  • Research new liability processes and identify methods to predict and improve reliability.
  • Performs onsite evaluation of existing processes and equipment and sets expectations within the department for precision maintenance.
  • Reviews and establishes Key Performance Indices for equipment.
  • Identifies PM opportunities and maintenance plans by leading failure mode and effect analysis.
  • Analyzes current data for equipment health indicators and identifies reports to measure health indicators.
  • Proactively develops and provides safety perspective for equipment and processes; makes recommendations of engineering solutions or methods to eliminate hazards.
  • Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable processes, practices, and existing/proposed local, state, and federal regulations.
  • Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated Engineering areas.
  • Develop and evaluate AFE's (Authorization for Expenditure) for capital funding requests.
  • May evaluate and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment.
  • May represent the site on company-sponsored steering committees, task forces, or teams.
 Qualifications:
  • Minimum five (5) years of working in heavy industrial, mining, or related industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field (engineering, science, or equivalent) required.
  • Experience in Plant Operations and Maintenance.
  • Proficiency of MS Office suite including Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Ability to listen and understand information and ideas and express thoughts and ideas clearly and concisely through oral and written communication.
  • Customer focused on providing quality service to improve equipment and process reliability.
  • Knowledge and understanding of reliability-centered maintenance practices.
  • Experience with engineering design drawings and schematics.
  • Self-starter with solid integrity.
  • Understand the importance of safety, legality, and quality.
 Preferred:
  • Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification Criteria/Conditions.
  • Ability to understand and apply verbal and written work and safety-related instructions and procedures.
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards.
  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment.
  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes, or airborne particles.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear, and see.
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects up to thirty (30) pounds during the course of the workday.
  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing, or plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required.

The pay range for this role is:

75,000 - 90,000 USD per year (Silver Creek Materials)
