About the role

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join our finance and accounting team. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the Controller with daily accounting operations, financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. This role requires strong analytical skills, an understanding of accounting principles, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.

This is a hybrid role based at Searchspring's Head Office in San Antonio, TX, open to candidates located in the San Antonio or Austin metropolitan areas. 

How you will succeed


General Ledger Management

  • Oversee and maintain the general ledger, ensuring all transactions are recorded accurately.

  • Perform month-end and year-end close processes, including reconciliations and journal entries.

  • Review and maintain proper supporting documentation for various balance sheet accounts.

  • Work closely with the controller and other staff members to promptly resolve discrepancies.


Compliance and Audit

  • Assist in compliance with regulatory requirements, including state tax filings, audit requests, and financial disclosures.
  • Participate in external audits by providing necessary documentation and explanations.
  • Document and standardize policies, procedures, and controls to ensure consistency and compliance.


Process Improvement

  • Identify areas for process improvement and efficiency gains within the finance department and organization.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and streamline financial processes.


Financial Reporting

  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

  • Ensure financial reports are accurate, complete, and in compliance with relevant accounting standards and regulations.

  • Prepare and analyze various financial reports and present findings to senior management.


Team & Communication

  • Actively engage with other team members within the accounting and finance department.

  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both oral and written, at all levels within an organization.

What we're looking for
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field is strongly desired.

  • Minimum 2 years of progressive experience in accounting or finance.

  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting (GAAP/IFRS).

  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (NetSuite experience huge plus!)

  • Experience in the software or software-as-a-service industry preferred.

  • CPA or CPA candidate highly preferred.
