The Part-Time Junior Accountant will be responsible for carrying out transaction activities and updating financial records while providing quality service to internal and external clients. This role is 20-25 hours/week and will mainly be focused on Accounts Payable.

WHAT YOU WILL DO (essential functions):

• Review and process daily transactions
• Prepare journal entries
• Reconciliation of balance sheet accounts
• Full cycle of accounts payable
• Credit Card reconciliations
• Assist with process and software implementations
• File tax forms with local, state, and federal agencies
• Assist accounting team members and the Accounting Manager when necessary
• Ensure all documentation is properly filed and maintained
• Uses sound judgement on when to engage support to resolve challenges
• Responds positively to feedback and coaching
• Takes responsibility for quality and quantity of work
• Develops individual stretch goals that advance organizational goals
• Identifies member/customer needs and provides appropriate solutions
• Consistently meets deadlines and project deliverables
• Demonstrates excellent customer service skills to both internal and external audiences
• Demonstrates commitment to SCU Values
• Establishes and maintains collaborative relationships with all levels of teammates across the organization
• Maintain regular and punctual attendance

WHAT YOU WILL BRING:

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in general ledger accounting
• Intermediate to advanced excel skills
• Excellent communication skills
• Knowledge of GAAPA team player with a growth mindset who is organized, dependable, and adaptable
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio).

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with credit unions or similar financial institution industry.

Working Conditions:

• This role is scheduled for 20-25 hours of work weekly
• This is a hybrid role with work performed remotely as well as in an office and/or branch environment in the Greater Seattle area of Washington State.
• Team members may attend special off-hour meetings and seminars.
• The nature of work may include prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
