Running an independent journalism organisation is brutal. Most media companies are either state funded (read: compromised) or sponsored by billionaires (also compromised). Both burn money to fuel political ambitions. Traditional media is failing us, and nothing revealed that more than Gaza and Sudan.


Seen TV is looking for a Head of Sales to drive new revenue streams that support our journalism.

We’re a decolonial media company telling the stories mainstream media ignores. We do this by helping everyday, unseen people tell their stories and go viral using their phones. To be seen. We call it Remotely Guided Content, supported by the proprietary tools we build. The result is raw, authentic video storytelling that cuts through the noise. That’s how Seen TV has grown to over 8M subscribers across platforms.


Now brands want us to produce video content for them using this same unique methodology and technology. We’re especially popular with some of the world’s biggest NGOs and charities, who need beneficiaries on the ground to document their own stories.


But which other industries should be working with us next? In a world of generative AI, which sectors still need legitimate video content? We’re looking for a sales lead to help us figure this out together and close deals.


So what are you selling? High-impact, low-cost video storytelling powered by Remotely Guided Content. But the product goes far beyond video production. You could help us grow our licensing and syndication business. Or open up IP sales for streaming platforms. Or discover new programmatic ad revenue opportunities.


Founded in 2017, Seen TV is now a fully remote team of 30+ people around the world. Our investors include Snapchat.

This role requires someone who has sold media products before. You may have operated inside, or alongside, publishers, studios, agencies, or platforms. You definitely have a black book of contacts. You will personally drive outbound, open doors, run conversations, and close deals that shape the future of Seen TV.


This is a rare opportunity to help fund the future of independent journalism while building a serious commercial operation across production, licensing, distribution, and IP.

Compensation

This is a full-time role with a base salary plus performance-based commission.

  • Base salary: R500,000–R700,000 per year (depending on experience). We’re open to more for the right person!

  • Commission: 15–30% variable, tied to revenue closed

  • On-target earnings (OTE): R575,000–R900,000+ per year


While this role is based in South Africa, the majority of deals are expected to come from the USA and Europe. You should be comfortable selling internationally, operating across time zones, and closing mid to high-value global deals.

We are open to discussing structure for the right person, including higher commission and a lower base, depending on seniority, network, and deal-making track record.
