About the role

We are seeking a hands-on and experienced Maintenance Manager to join our Horticulture team. Reporting to the Farm Manager, this role is responsible for leading all maintenance activities across the orchard, ensuring machinery, plant, and infrastructure are maintained to a high standard to support safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

You will work closely with farm operations, maintenance staff, and external suppliers to minimise downtime, optimise equipment performance, and maintain a strong safety culture across the site.

What you'll do

  • Lead and oversee all maintenance activities across machinery, vehicles, plant, and infrastructure
  • Conduct and coordinate servicing, repairs, and preventative maintenance in line with operational requirements
  • Monitor equipment performance and schedule maintenance to minimise downtime
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records, including service logs and repair documentation
  • Ensure all machinery is operated safely and in accordance with procedures and standards
  • Identify and address maintenance issues, including unsafe equipment or infrastructure
  • Manage spare parts, tools, and consumables to ensure operational readiness
  • Support budgeting, cost control, and forecasting of maintenance expenditure
  • Supervise, support, and develop maintenance and field staff
  • Ensure equipment reliability and performance, particularly during peak harvest periods

What we're looking for

  • Demonstrated experience in a maintenance leadership role within a horticultural, agricultural, or similar environment
  • Trade or tertiary qualification in mechanical, electrical, or agricultural engineering (or similar)
  • Strong knowledge of machinery and farm infrastructure
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams
  • Sound planning, organisational, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong focus on safety, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced operational environment
  • Good communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with stakeholders
