About the role

Selkirk is seeking an R&D Engineer – APAC Supplier Development to support onsite coordination and engineering activities with key manufacturing partners in Asia. This role serves as an important link between Selkirk engineering teams and supplier factories, helping support new product development, process follow-up, prototype builds, production readiness, and manufacturing quality initiatives.The ideal candidate is hands-on, organized, and comfortable working directly within supplier manufacturing environments to support product execution and continuous improvement activities. This position requires strong communication skills in both Mandarin Chinese and English and the ability to work effectively across cultures and manufacturing teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Serve as Selkirk’s onsite engineering liaison with manufacturing partners in China and Asia.
• Support new product development activities including prototype builds, pilot production, and manufacturing follow-up.
• Coordinate closely with supplier engineering and production teams to support product quality and production readiness.
• Assist with process monitoring and improvement activities related to molding, tooling, assembly, and manufacturing consistency.
• Help identify and troubleshoot manufacturing and product quality issues.
• Support communication between Selkirk internal teams and supplier factories regarding product changes, timelines, and technical follow-up.
• Participate in production reviews, supplier meetings, and engineering evaluations.
• Support factory validation builds, production trials, and continuous improvement initiatives.
• Assist with documentation, reporting, and engineering feedback from supplier locations.
• Travel regularly between supplier facilities and Selkirk regional offices as required.

Key Responsibilities

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, Materials, or related technical field preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, product engineering, supplier development, or related engineering support roles.
• Understanding of manufacturing processes including molding, tooling, assembly, and process controls.
• Experience working directly with factories or manufacturing suppliers.
• Strong organizational and communication skills.
• Fluent in both Mandarin Chinese and English (spoken and written).
• Willingness and ability to travel frequently within Asia.

Qualifications

• Experience in sporting goods industries such as pickleball, tennis, golf, cycling, hockey, or other consumer products.
• Experience supporting manufacturing operations in China and/or Vietnam.
• Familiarity with APAC supplier coordination and cross-cultural collaboration.
• Understanding of product development and manufacturing quality processes.
• Knowledge of continuous improvement or lean manufacturing practices.
