Retail Assistant Manager – Pickleball Pro Shop (Meridian)
About Selkirk Sport
At Selkirk Sport, we’re passionate about pushing the boundaries of pickleball innovation. Our mission is to Fuel the Pickleball Obsession by creating the sport’s premier products and ecosystem. As a leading global brand in premium pickleball equipment, we’re expanding our international presence and seeking top-tier talent to support our growth in the U.S. and abroad.
We pride ourselves on a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Selkirk applies first-principles thinking to design scalable, process-driven systems that create lasting operational advantage.
Is this you?
You’re the person your last manager never had to check on. You’ve run a shift, counted a till, and turned a frustrated customer into a regular, and you’d honestly rather make the call than wait for one. And on your day off, you’re probably at the courts.
Selkirk’s Meridian Pro Shop needs a leader like that. You'll oversee daily operations at our Meridian location, making independent decisions on store operations, customer service, and team coordination while partnering closely with our Pro Shop Manager in Coeur d'Alene. Players come here to try paddles on our demo court and find gear that fits their game. Your job is to make every visit feel like the best pro shop they’ve ever been to, and to build a team that does the same when you’re not on the floor.
You’ll love this role if
- You do your best work when someone trusts you with the keys and real responsibility
- You’d rather fit a player into the right paddle than ring up a sale
- You take pride in a spotless, perfectly zoned floor, and you’ll grab the mop yourself when it needs it
- You want to be known as the Selkirk person in the Boise area pickleball community
This role probably isn't for you if
- You want a manager on-site to check every decision with
- You'd rather not work weekends, holidays, or launch days
- Cleaning and unloading shipments feel like someone else's job
A day in the role might include
A customer’s paddle cracked mid-tournament and they want a replacement today, so you check it against warranty policy and make the call. A new paddle launches next week, so you build the schedule around it and get the team ready to demo it with confidence. A player who’s been stuck between two paddles spends 20 minutes on the demo court with you and leaves with the right one. You close out, count the till, and assign tomorrow’s restock in our task system.
What You’ll Do
Run the store
- Open and close the shop, completing daily task lists for displays, cash wrap, restocking, zoning, cleaning, and lock-up
- Own the store cleaning schedule and make sure it gets done
Sell and fit customers
- Lead on the sales floor: greet customers, run paddle trials and fittings, and sell paddles, apparel, bags, and accessories
- Deliver a premium, consultative Selkirk experience to every player who walks in
Make the call on customer issues
- Make final decisions on in-store escalations, policy exceptions, and refunds
- Process in-store warranty claims and returns according to Selkirk policy, documenting each accurately in our POS
Lead the team
- Build the weekly schedule for part-time associates so every open hour is covered
- Train associates on products, POS, daily tasks, and store standards
- Assign and track tasks in our store management system, keeping Boise in step with our Coeur d’Alene shop
- Plan team-building events every other month
Handle cash and inventory
- Complete the monthly till reconciliation and bank deposit
- Purchase daily shop supplies on the company card within approved limits
- Receive and check in shipments, and train to take over physical inventory management for the Meridian location
