About the Role: The Research Scientist will play a pivotal role in supporting and executing research activities to demonstrate efficacy of population management solutions and advance application of our products that will expand our technology across the globe. As a company that focuses on fertility management of wildlife and vertebrate pests, we have designed a novel approach that effectively and humanely controls overabundant species by targeting the problem at its source, reproduction. This position will collaborate with R&D, Regulatory, and Marketing/Sales teams to drive product innovation and research while maintaining compliance with study protocols and state or federal policy guidelines. The individual will design, manage, and execute field research projects, interpret data, and convey findings into well-written reports that meet scientific standards and regulatory requirements. The position entails translating scientific findings into various forms of content and presenting information to diverse audiences. The Research Scientist should be knowledgeable on population monitoring and surveying techniques with ability to become proficient in industry standards and new trends or technology that can improve efficiency, efficacy, and implementation of our products. The role will aid product initiatives, including product registrations and international account support. This is a permanent, full-time position with a salary range of $60,000-$80,000 depending on qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities:
- Research Design & Execution: Develop and assist with the implementation of research projects, including field studies and trials focused on population management and product efficacy.
- Data Management & Reporting: Collect, organize, and analyze data; produce comprehensive reports and presentations detailing findings.
- Quality & Compliance: Ensure adherence to scientific principles, research protocols, company policies, and regulatory guidelines to maintain project integrity; review and maintain accurate records and data.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with project managers, field technicians, upper management, marketing, and manufacturing teams to meet project goals and deadlines; assist regulatory with compiling documents to support local, state, federal and international product registrations.
- Translation of Research into Action: Transform research insights into actionable recommendations, supporting product development and operational improvements.
- Communication: communicate and present technical information with confidence while effectively distilling complex ideas to a non-technical audience.
- Client Engagement: Develop and maintain productive relationships with clients, ensuring alignment on research objectives and expectations.
- Support & Documentation: Compile data into scientific reports, white papers, project summaries, and product materials, including utilizing product knowledge to provide technical support.
- Project Management: Develop and maintain project protocols, timelines, procedures, data management systems, expense reporting, and document records.
- Literature Review & Continuous Learning: Stay informed of industry advancements by reviewing scientific literature and integrating findings into experimental design and methodology.
- Other Responsibilities: Perform additional tasks as assigned to support organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Degree in related field – biology, ecology, wildlife science, zoology, environmental policy or a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant or combined experience in research, fieldwork, hands-on experience conducting surveying techniques or population monitoring concepts– project management, and/or regulatory experience (required).
- Experience with EPA, FIFRA guidelines or product registrations a plus.
- Proficiency in designing and conducting research studies and analyzing data.
- Familiarity with research protocols, policies, and regulatory guidelines.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with excellent attention to detail and follow-through.
- Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams across multiple locations.
- Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and statistical software (e.g., R, JMP).
- Knowledge of population, abundance and census monitoring techniques with demonstrated understanding for basic principles of field surveying.

WORK ENVIRONMENT & TRAVEL: Project-based field travel required (approximately 30% or more), including carrying equipment up to 40 lbs., walking, and exposure to varying environmental conditions. Office work is primarily sedentary, with occasional periods of standing, walking, and light lifting. Adherence to safety precautions, including wearing protective equipment as needed while in field or lab setting. Although the position is fully remote aside from necessary travel or fieldwork, priority to filling vacancy will be granted to qualified applicants who are located near our corporate facilities in Phoenix, AZ.
