About the Role

The Fire Alarm Technician is responsible for the installation, inspection, testing, troubleshooting, and repair of fire alarm and life safety systems in commercial, industrial, and institutional environments. This role ensures fire alarm systems operate efficiently, comply with all safety regulations, and meet client expectations. You will provide technical expertise, detailed reporting, and maintain professional service while collaborating with team members to support field operations.

Key Responsibilities

(Include, but are not limited to)

Fire Alarm & Life Safety Work

• Perform routine inspections, verifications, programming, troubleshooting and repairs of fire alarm systems.
• Conduct monthly, semi-annual, and annual inspections for fire alarm, fire suppression, emergency lighting, extinguishers, and hoses.
• Diagnose and repair issues related to system operation for access control, intrusion, and network connected systems (where applicable).

Service Coordination & Reporting

• Complete Service Work Orders within allotted timeframes and communicate status updates and recommendations.
• Prepare detailed inspection reports and documentation.
• Respond promptly to customer inquiries, unexpected service needs, and support other technicians as required.

Compliance, Safety & Support

• Follow all Ontario Fire Code requirements and applicable CAN/ULC standards.
• Maintain CFAA certification and complete ongoing CFAA credits.
• Participate in on-call rotation and occasional weekend work as required.
• Conduct vehicle inspections and complete assigned cybersecurity training (PII weekly).

Qualifications

• Certified CFAA Technician with valid Ontario license.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the fire alarm or life safety industry.
• Strong knowledge of relevant codes/standards (CAN/ULC S536, S537, Ontario Fire Code)
• Valid G Driver’s License with a clean driver’s abstract.
• Excellent troubleshooting ability and electronic systems knowledge.
• Experience with Building Reports is an asset.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with computers and digital reporting tools.

Employment Details

• Fulltime: 38–44 hours/week, Monday–Friday.
• 3‑month probation period.
• Pension and benefits are available after probation.
